Fair over hurdles he looks like improving on that over fences building on a sound enough debut (unseated rider) when winning at Hexham (2m). Beat an odds-on favourite in a small field (jumped well in the main); now handicapping off a decent mark.

Three-time chase winner but his fencing ventures for current connections have been very poor on both occasions. Shaped a little better back over hurdles last time but overall his form is more miss than hit despite falling below his last winning mark.

The one to take on front running duties here having scored in that manner returning from a long break at Hexham over 2m off 6lb lower. Also won over C&D in similar fashion; ridden too aggressively at Cartmel last time (got into a pace duel

Completed a long range hat-trick last time having been off the track a while before picking up where he left off to score over C&D. Jumped well/travelled strongly (4-7 over fences) and kept on well to win narrowly; 3lb higher here.

An entertaining and quirky character when with Henry Daly it will take a miracle to change his ways; showed no sign of that on his first start for this yard. Now tried in a first-time visor but will remain just as hard and difficult to win with.

This will be his third yard in as many starts having won his last two for different yard although they were only selling hurdles. Pulled-up (jumped poorly) when last seen over fences and not a particularly smooth mover who needs further.

Forecasts

Old Salt (11/8), Honourable Gent (7/2), Okotoks (4/1), Endless Credit (5/1), Go West Young Man (20/1), King's Wharf (20/1)

Verdict

The antics before and during the race (if he jumps off) of Go West Young Man may well be entertaining but it will take a big effort from his new yard to turn around one of jump racing’s most eccentric characters. Endless Credit got involved in a pace duel last time which ruined his effort but he should get an easy time in front here and his rivals will need to be careful not to give him too much rope. OKOTOKS could well be better over fences than he was over hurdles and his win last time came in good style against a decent opponent and he’s taken to get the better of four-timer seeking Honourable Gent. He has a 4-7 over fences but this looks a little harder than his task last time.
  1. Okotoks
  2. Honourable Gent
  3. Endless Credit
