Drops back in trip having raced over 1m6f-2m since joining this trainer from Ger Lyons for 32,000 gns in November 2017; his best form in Ireland came with cut, but appears to be adaptable enough in terms of racing surface.

1¾L runner-up to Genetics over C&D last month (4lb better off here) and probably ran as well as could be expected against a couple of improving rivals at Ayr (1m2f, good) latest.

Stayed on well to beat Oasis Fantasy by 1¾L on his first attempt at this 1m4f trip over C&D last month; recommences battle on 4lb worse terms after surprisingly dropping back to 1m2f at Epsom latest (runner-up).

No win since May 2017 (1m), and has the hood applied on his first attempt at this 1m4f trip; should stay given the quick ground, but others are more convincing.

Hit the headlines last week when recording an eighth course success (1m2f); turned out sharply back up in trip under a 6lb penalty (possible that runner-up Topmeup can frank that form earlier); always impossible to ignore at this track.

Forecasts

Genetics (4/6), Oasis Fantasy (3/1), Roy Rocket (8/1), World War (12/1), Arctic Sea (14/1)

Verdict

Brighton pin-up Roy Rocket will be the toast of the town if he can record a ninth course victory (and a quickfire hat-trick in the process), but he's slightly vulnerable up against Genetics and OASIS FANTASY. That pair were separated by 1¾L when finishing first and second over C&D last month and renew rivalries here on 4lb different terms, and that's enough for the David Simcock-trained runner to reverse those placings after a perfectly respectable subsequent effort behind a couple of improving types at Ayr latest (1m2f).
  1. Oasis Fantasy
  2. Genetics
  3. Roy Rocket
