Fairly useful in handicaps when trained in France winning on the AW and leaving the Freddie Head stable for €25,000 at the end of 2017. Only had the one run (over hurdles; pulled-up) for his current yard; blinkered (first-time) for his Flat return.
Twice a C&D winner and generally ridden from the front; latest win came in a claimer. Hasn't found life as easy back in handicaps and continued his poor run last time back on turf at Chester; well above his last winning mark of 59.
Won twice here over a shorter trip and has shown improved form since joining this yard. His form since his last win back on turf had looked as though he was better on the AW but he turned that theory around last time when winning at Doncaster.
A break and a lack of headgear appeared to be the factors behind his AW win in April over 1m6f dropping into 0-65 grade for the first time. Looked quirky in that win and has proved even more so since especially on his last start; not one to trust.
Course winner who looks to be holding his form well on turf having taken the runner-up slot on his last three starts off a 2lb lower mark each time. Has looked less than straightforward in the past but doing little wrong at present and respected here
Improved on his previous efforts switched to handicaps at Leicester last time over 1m2f in first-time cheekpieces. Did the best of those coming from off the pace and now tries 2f further with the headgear removed for his first AW try.
Up in trip for her qualifying run for handicaps she failed to build on a promising effort the time before although she was given a considerate ride. Back on the AW (handicap debut) over the longest trip so far (still unexposed); note a market move.
Gained his handicap mark over shorter and hasn't so far fired in handicaps (not been disgraced). Has looked rather one-paced though over slightly shorter trip and could do with further and an ease in the handicap; looks held off this mark.
Not seen to best advantage on his handicap debut over this trip (slow early gallop against him) and he needs a better pace to operate off properly. All of his form before this indicating that he needs a test of stamina and he remains with potential.
Yet to win a race she's the type from this yard that can pop up at anytime but she's had enough chances to do so already. Her form this year (all on turf) is more miss than hit although the handicapper is dropping her quickly; second AW attempt.
Forecasts
Phoenician Star (9/4), My Fantasea (11/4), Voluminous (4/1), Betjeman (8/1), Temasek Star (10/1), Dubai Frame (14/1), Mail Order (16/1), Dream Magic (16/1), Song Of Love (50/1), Mr Young (66/1)
There could well be a couple of improving sorts lurking amongst the three-year-olds with DUBAI FRAME the one that appeals most if he gets a decent gallop to operate off which will bring his stamina into play. Voluminous is the other from that age group to note as she still looks unexposed over trips such as this and comes from a stable in good form. Of the older horses the Irish challenger Temasek Star should make a bold bid having finished second in three recent starts with My Fantasea looking to follow-up his recent Doncaster win and add to his two course victories he’s gained over shorter trips (stays this far) the biggest danger of all.
- Dubai Frame
- My Fantasea
- Voluminous
