Went into handicaps last year rated 84, but dropped sharply after a winless run, and built on promising reappearance when winning with more in hand than the bare margin over C&D last week. Can defy a penalty.

Failed to win for Jamie Osborne, but seemed benefit from return to 7f when getting off the mark at Chelmsford on Friday, albeit enjoying the run of the race. Penalty demands more, but this isn't a deep race.

Was well backed following wind surgery when a never nearer fourth here in February on debut for current yard, but he has disappointed on both subsequent starts, and needs to improve for the fitting of a hood.

Orpen half-sister to owners' 6f winner Wedgewood Estates, but she has looked very limited to date, and was tailed off on handicap debut at Lingfield last time.

Failed to win in varied company for Richard Hannon as a juvenile, and has beaten just a solitary rival in two handicap starts for current yard. Tried in blinkers once for previous yard, when running poorly.

Has scored twice over C&D in the past, and now well below his last winning mark, but he's been underperforming for some time now, and no great appeal despite refitting of cheekpieces.

Has a couple of fair efforts in maidens to his name for Sabrina Harty, but hasn't achieved a great deal in three outings for current stable, for all he faced a stiff task last time.

Placed on last four handicap starts on turf and AW, and no knocking her consistency, but beaten six lengths when second last time, and has little leeway from her current mark.

Produced best performance to date when fifth at Lingfield on penultimate outing, but that is modest form at best, and he failed to match it when blinkered last time. Headgear dispensed with now.

Has run respectably on all three starts here, but can't fall any lower in the weights, and needs to improve for this step up in trip if she's to shed her maiden tag.

Forecasts

Maldonado (8/11), De Little Engine (7/2), Jai Hanuman (11/2), Madame Jo Jo (9/1), Twickenham (20/1), Jazz Magic (20/1), Strategic (25/1), Favorite Story (28/1), Working Together (50/1), Jacksonfire (50/1), Star Attraction (66/1), Blackthorn Stick (66/1)

Verdict

Very few of these make much appeal in handicaps, with the notable exception of MALDONADO, whose win over C&D last week was much more authoritative than the winning margin implies, and he looks up to compiling a sequence. De Little Engine merits respect as the other last-time-out winner in the field, but had plenty go his way when winning at Chelmsford, and must prove he can build on that. Madame Jo Jo is nothing if not consistent, so should again make the frame.
