Running well without troubling the judge in the main this year including when third of seven in handicap at Leicester (5f, good to firm) 10 days ago. Has good chance here eased in grade on best form however.

Has gone 11 runs without a win now, out of form on the AW at Dundalk in January on final start for previous handler. Market may reveal more on first start for new connections.

Three-time C&D winner. Improved recent efforts to win 11-runner handicap over C&D (good to firm) 20 days ago and should be in the firing line again despite a 3lb rise as he attempts to win this three years in a row.

Not the easiest to win with (last couple of wins on the AW at Newcastle), but is a force to be reckoned with when able to lie up handy behind a strong early pace; well drawn and holds a solid chance if in the mood.

Victorious over 6f on good to firm ground here a month ago before being well held in three below par displays off a 5lb higher mark. Liable to find one or two quicker in this contest.

Showed some promise in sprint maidens but plenty to find based on handicap efforts in two runs, eleventh of 13 at Beverley (5f, good to firm) 12 days ago.

Finished a close fifth over C&D in the middle of last month, though only eighth of 10 back here again since and others make more appeal now.

Sole victory came four years ago and hard to be comfortable with his overall record. Best recent form has been at Musselburgh and below form again at Hamilton last month.

Shown no worthwhile form since August 2016 (when with Gay Kelleway) and was easily fended off last time at Hamilton, hard to be confident racing from out of the weights here.

Most recent score came at Hamilton in September 2015 off a similar mark but the gelding has been out of form recently and is hard to fancy from 6lb out the weights this time.

Forecasts

Lexington Place (5/4), Groundworker (7/2), Perfect Words (6/1), Brendan (11/1), Red Forever (11/1), Palavicini Run (12/1), Fintry Flyer (14/1), Encoded (50/1), King Of Castilla (50/1), Raise A Billion (50/1)

Verdict

PERFECT WORDS bids to win this race for the third year in succession and is clearly in rude health after a C&D win last month, a 3lb rise looks fair and he should be right there when it matters. A significant drop in class ensures the eye is also drawn towards Lexington Place, who will have a strong chance on best form. Groundworker isn't straightforward but would be dangerous given a handy time of things while Fintry Flyer isn't out of it.
