Babbling Streamt132
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-10| J: H Morgan(7)| T: H De Bromhead| OR:  123
20/1
Best effort in this discipline when third of 17 to Golden Jewel in handicap at Tipperary on reappearance. Below form last time, and tongue tied fitted after that weak-finishing effort.
2
Horse silk
Bhutant32
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-10| J: Mark Walsh| T: J P O'Brien| OR:  123| BF
3/1
Belatedly bettered form of maiden hurdle win when fourth of 14 in warm handicap hurdle at Killarney in May. Just a respectable effort last time, but return to further will suit, and one to bear in mind.
3
Horse silk
Pete So High84
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-6| J: Keith Donoghue| T: G Elliott| OR:  126
12/1
Found more than runner-up when gaining second hurdles win at Limerick in March, and presumably not right when pulled up last time. Should bounce back, but more required.
4
Horse silk
Commander Wonp,t16
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-5| J: C D Maxwell| T: D A McLoughlin| OR:  118
20/1
Showed improved form to land a maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan last month, and showed similar form when second (subsequently placed last) at Wexford next time, and no doubting that he's turned the corner in form terms.
5
Horse silk
Rocky Courtt39
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-4| J: Robbie Colgan| T: S J Mahon| OR:  117| C
25/1
Better known as a chaser these days, and back to form when winning over fences at Ballinrobe on latest start. Capable of similar form in this sphere, and course winner in the past. Respected.
6
Horse silk
Cecil Corbett11
Age: 11|  Weight: 11-3| J: D N Russell| T: G Elliott| OR:  116
16/1
As good as ever when winning a 2m7½f handicap chase at Downpatrick on penultimate, and not discredited last time. 9lb lower over hurdles, and no reason why he won't be equally effective reverting to smaller obstacles.
7
Horse silk
Hey Little Boyp13
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-3| J: Paul Townend| T: W P Mullins| OR:  116
11/2
Maiden winner at Tramore last summer, and best recent effort when fifth at Killarney in May. Fell last time, and has something to prove despite representing powerful yard.
8
Horse silk
You Can't Catch Met14
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-2| J: C A Landers(7)| T: K Purcell| OR:  115| BF| D
7/1
Relishes a sound surface, and has won two of his last three starts, latest back on the Flat at Limerick. Creeping up the weights, but hard to ignore in current mood.
9
Horse silk
Allardyce19
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-1| J: Phillip Enright| T: E J O'Grady| OR:  114
15/2
Won heavy-ground maiden hurdle at Limerick in April, but less impact since, and well behind You Can't Catch Me at Downpatrick last time. May be fitter now, but work to do.
10
Horse silk
Major Destinationt311
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-1| J: J M Moore| T: N Meade| OR:  114| D
16/1
Bumper and hurdles winner last year, but already seems better over fences, and off the mark at second attempt in that sphere at Ballinrobe in August. Entitled to need this spin over timber after an absence.
11
Horse silk
Nikodamt63
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-11| J: Donagh Meyler| T: S J Mahon| OR:  110
33/1
Half-brother to Djakadam, but had rather a mixed record in France for Arnaud Chaille-Chaille. Probably needed run after a break for new yard at Cork, but not easy to fancy now.
12
Horse silk
Rio Lobo34
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-8| J: Mr C J Orr(7)| T: H De Bromhead| OR:  107
8/1
Set to go close when falling late on hurdles bow, and got back to that level of form when winning a fast-ground maiden hurdle at Tramore last month. Opening mark stiff on balance, but open to improvement.
14
Horse silk
Schindlers Arkt169
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-4| J: Katie O'Farrell(5)| T: G Elliott| OR:  110
25/1
Awarded the race on stable/hurdles debut at Cork in January, but he hasn't progressed, admitting that heavy ground might not be ideal given his Flat pedigree. Tongue tied for handicap bow, and market will tell a tale.
15
Horse silk
Sam Kingt23
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-3| J: D G Hogan| T: T M Walsh| OR:  102
10/1
Best recent effort over hurdles when runner-up in handicap over C&D last summer. May have needed the run when returning from a break at Punchestown last month, but not discredited, and better expected now.

Forecasts

Bhutan (3/1), Hey Little Boy (11/2), You Can't Catch Me (7/1), Allardyce (15/2), Rio Lobo (8/1), Sam King (10/1), Pete So High (12/1), Major Destination (16/1), Cecil Corbett (16/1), Fred The Foot (16/1), Babbling Stream (20/1), Commander Won (20/1), Schindlers Ark (25/1), Rocky Court (25/1), Ar Eagla Na Heagla (25/1), Nikodam (33/1)

Verdict

Gordon Elliott has dominated this race in recent times, and CECIL CORBETT makes most appeal of the yard's representatives here given he's much lower over hurdles, and potentially well handicapped in this discipline. Bhutan should appreciate the step up in trip after a fair effort last time, and merits respect, as does the thriving You Can't Catch Me, who relishes top of the ground.
  1. Cecil Corbett
  2. Bhutan
  3. You Can't Catch Me
