A reproduction of either of his last two starts would be good enough, but there must be a doubt he will get the strong pace he favours.

Sea The Stars colt, cost 450,000 gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to Group 1 winner Lilly Langtry. Beat a subsequent handicap winner (trained by William Haggas) at Lingfield so interesting to see how he stands in the market against Mashaheer.

The form of his Nottingham victory has not worked out well enough to justify his current weight. That seemed the case last time but hard to rule anything out in what should be a tactical battle.

Makes his handicap debut with Ryan Moore on board for the first time. Finished fifth in a hot maiden here in April and clear chance on that effort if able to excuse his latest run.

Forecasts

Howman (5/4), Rapier (5/2), Jazeel (9/2), Mashaheer (5/1)

Verdict

This may prove tactical and that will not suit Jazeel but may benefit Mashaheer who has won over shorter. Rapier makes his handicap debut and his fifth here on his return looks good form although he failed to build on that last time. HOWMAN held Royal Ascot entries and gave weight and a beating to a subsequent handicap winner when scoring at Lingfield. On that score he is potentially a lot better than his current mark gives him credit for..
  1. Howman
  2. Mashaheer
  3. Rapier
