Only one run to his name so far and very much held back by inexperience on that occasion. Should know more this time but takes on a couple of decent types in this and looks up against things once more.
Yard already have 35 two-year-old winners on the board and this one knew his job on debut finishing runner-up to one with experience (odds-on favourite). Sure to do better with that run under his belt and an extra furlong to travel here.

Yard not known for their two-year-olds and this has been their sole runner in that sphere so far this season. Showed very little on his debut though at York over 6f when a 25/1 shot getting outpaced and finishing well beaten.

Grew in stature and experience throughout her debut and really got the hang of things by the finish. Winner of that Redcar 6f race was well beaten in the Albany (Royal Ascot) but the 2nd and 4th both won next time out; good form chance.

Expensive purchase for this yard (£35,000) and showed promise on debut over 5f at Thirsk. However, she's failed to build on that debut run despite starting at much shorter prices on two subsequent starts; questions to answer now over 7f.

Forecasts

Light Heart (11/8), Beryl The Petal (3/1), Barasti Dancer (6/1), Samantha James (6/1), Wee Jim (9/1)

Verdict

This looks to be a duel between two once-raced juveniles both of whom produced likeable first efforts and it’s only by a narrow margin that LIGHT HEART gets the nod. There was a lot to like about his debut effort and with his yard going well with their juveniles he’s taken to see off Beryl The Petal. She made an equally taking debut at Redcar with the form having been franked and she’ll provide a tough opponent in receipt of weight. The minor slot ought to go the way of Samantha James although she’s disappointed on two starts since showing promise on her debut.
  1. Light Heart
  2. Beryl The Petal
  3. Samantha James
