Won twice in the early weeks of the year, but has been below form on either side of a break at the end of March, and he needs to bounce back now.
Both wins have come on AW, and running respectably of late, although takes plenty of driving, so switch from cheekpieces to blinkers looks a sensible ploy, and claims if headgear has desired effect.
Won novice at Chepstow and handicap at Chelmsford last year. Not seen since running well in December, but would have claims if fully tuned-up for this reappearance.
Somewhat in-and-out form in four runs here this year, but back to form when third of 14 to Lawmaking in handicap over C&D last time. Had run of race there, and more required to shed maiden tag now.
210,000 gns yearling by Society Rock who improved significantly when winning on his second start last year. Good effort on return, and not disgraced in strong 3-y-o handicap at Haydock last time. Blinkers tried now.
Three-time winner in France, but unconvincing for different yards since moving to Britain, and cheekpieces need to make a massive difference if he's to play a part,
Won a novice here in January, and form of his third at Chelmsford in March has worked out well, so may pay to ignore a poor effort on turf debut last time. Makes longshot appeal.
Standout effort to date when runner-up in 1m handicap at Goodwood in May, but she ran moderately last time, and her overall profile fails to convince.
Hard to predict, and winless since gaining back-to-back successes for another yard in spring last year. Ran poorly here last time, and cheekpieces now reached for.
Bred for dirt, so no surprise to see him win at Southwell in March, and back to form after a break when caught close home at Newcastle last time. Could well step up on that, and remains open to progress.
Best efforts to date have come at Wolverhampton, and ran well when 1¼L third of 11 to Maypole in 1m½f handicap there last time. Relatively unexposed on AW, so may have more to offer.
Best effort to date when fourth of 10 to The Chemist in minor event over 7f at Wolverhampton last time. Bred to need further, so likely to improve now handicapping at this trip.
Forecasts
Faadhel (7/2), Strange Society (4/1), Zain Star (6/1), Pastime (6/1), Illusional (6/1), Pinnata (10/1), Private Cashier (14/1), Daybreak (16/1), Bobby Biscuit (20/1), Arnarson (25/1), Cherbourg (100/1), Bouclier (100/1)
ILLUSIONAL represents a yard which excels in such events in the summer, and he's taken to build on a promising effort at Newcastle last time. Private Cashier and Strange Society are another couple of three-year-olds open to progress, while Pastime appeals as being in need of blinkers, so could step up with that headgear applied for the first time.
- Illusional
- Strange Society
- Pastime
