Won just once in 22 starts (5f good to soft), but beaten just a neck on seasonal reappearance at Musselburgh (5f good) in May; more modest since.

Once rated in the mid 80's but struggled for previous trainer Kevin Ryan and yet to really pick up the baton for Ruth Carr (£10,000 purchase in September 2017). Has shown early pace lately, but not quite getting home; mark still falling.

No penalty for a short-head 5f Apprentices Handicap win at Beverley last week, so must be considered on that showing alone from a lowly mark of just 45.

5/1
Lightly raced maiden who finished a keeping on third on her last visit to Scotland at Ayr (6f good to firm) in May, and whilst that was far from a strong race, this is equally poor; interesting if the market support arrives.

Her sole win came over 7f on the AW in December 2014 (28/1), and her career record now reads 1 from 66 (0-39 on turf); masses to find with Imperial Legend.

15-race maiden and stablemate of the equally unappealing Spoken Words; well beaten by Kodimoor over C&D in July 2017 and dismal since.

Mocead Cappall14
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-9| J: Barry McHugh| T: J R Holt| OR:  48
9/2
11-race maiden with bits and pieces of fair form in the context of this race; just didn't see out the 5½f trip when reeled in by Terri Rules at Brighton latest; trainer 0 from 2 at Hamilton since 2013; also declared at Musselburgh (Weds).

Forecasts

Etienne Gerard (7/2), Little Miss Lola (9/2), Mocead Cappall (9/2), Simbas Song (5/1), Kibaar (8/1), Kodimoor (8/1), Imperial Legend (10/1), Our Place In Loule (14/1), Griffin Street (40/1), Trulove (50/1), Spoken Words (66/1), Lambrini Legacy (66/1)

Verdict

A grim finale in which the list of possible winners is relatively short. Mocead Cappall is a rare Scottish runner for John Holt, but interestingly she has also been declared to run at Musselburgh on Wednesday. Etienne Gerard isn't the most consistent, but mightn't need to be in order to follow up last week's Beverley gains (escapes a penalty), whilst the C&D winners Imperial Legend and Kodimoor are possible players. However, the selection is the Irish raider SIMBAS SONG who is far less exposed than the majority and represents a trainer well-known for a tilt at these low-grade Scottish contests.
  1. Simbas Song
  2. Mocead Cappall
  3. Kodimoor
