Completed a May/June C&D double last year but couldn't pull of the same trick this year although he did run with credit at this year's May meeting. He's 3lb higher than when taking this last year but the jockey booking takes the eye; sure to go well.

Scored a surprise win under today's rider at Aintree in October having plenty of advantages in the race not least an easy lead and plenty of rope. Unreliable though and has failed to get anywhere near that form since including here last time.

First-time blinkers appeared to see him run with a bit more verve over C&D last time although the fact remains he's not won since 2015. Still looks to have work to do with Allfredandnobell who beat him last time; never been out of first three here.

Placed in point-to-points and has gradually improved over hurdles winning a Kempton novice last time. Now steps into handicaps for the first time and will find this a tougher gig than she has faced so far against some experienced types.

Had been kept busy on the Flat for the Majorie Fife yard and had a rare hurdles run for them although he looked remiss on that occasion. Now tries his luck over hurdles again for a new yard with cheekpieces added to his usual tongue-tie.

C&D winner here last time making it two wins from last three hurdles starts with a good Flat run thrown in for good measure. Appears to be thriving since a wind op at the start of the year; good chance again off a 5lb higher mark.

Provided a welcome winner for the yard that generally do well here when coming from off the pace to win on Friday over a shorter trip. Now carries a 7lb penalty over a longer trip and not an obvious type to follow-up.

Forecasts

Volcanic (5/2), Allfredandnobell (3/1), Boruma (7/2), Golden Town (9/2), Shazzamataz (13/2), Stags Leap (14/1), Bon Chic (16/1), Sigurd (25/1), Samtu (66/1)

Verdict

Allfredandnobell and Volcanic clashed here last time with the former coming out on top and both should once again run their races with the winner on that occasion taken to come out on top once more. Golden Town a winner here on Friday now tries his luck over further but he’s not sure to stay this trip and surely this race won’t provide the perfect scenario that the last one did. Shazzamatazz goes handicapping for the first time and could be suited by this track/trip but it’s course specialist BORUMA who gets the vote to give James Moffatt another “home” victory after he prevailed in this contest last year off a 3lb lower mark; he looks primed for this.
  1. Boruma
  2. Allfredandnobell
  3. Volcanic
