Showed a glimmer of promise in two bumper runs (looked a long term project) but left his hurdling debut well behind when tried on quick ground her last time. The trip (2m1f) did look on the short side though and this test will suit far better.

0/12 over hurdles it's very hard to find anything to recommend him for this and he's easily opposed.

Most of his form in bumpers and over hurdles is very modest although he did appear to take a step forward last time. That form looks a little suspect though and his jumping still left a lot to be desired; place chance at best.

Fallen twice over hurdles now in five starts on his debut and on his latest start at Bangor when leading his sole rival. Ought to be able to win something like this but his jumping woes are a slight worry about his chance.

His previous hurdles form was fair and it's no surprise to see him back over hurdles after his chase performances were distinctly below-par. Hard to say how he will react back over hurdles but has a chance if chasing hasn't rocked his confidence.

Looks to be the more fancied of the two runners from this local stable who has found one too good in all his three runs over hurdles. There appears little wrong with his attitude and main player if he stays this longer trip.

Fairly useful on the Flat when trained in France a few years ago he's not been seen since then and can only be watched unless the market advises otherwise.
Yet to run under Rules but dam was a half-sister to a useful hurdler/chaser G V A Ireland. Runner-up in last two point-to-points and worth a look in the market at this level.

Showed some fair form in staying contests on the Flat looked to have something to work on after making her hurdles debut at Hexham (2m, good). This stiffer test will suit and not out of this on her debut for this yard.

Forecasts

Sonic (2/1), The Steward (9/4), Lucky Lucarno (9/2), Siannes Star (8/1), Rubenesque (9/1), Strong Resemblance (16/1), Listentothewomen (18/1), Mahler Bay (66/1), Trade Flow (100/1)

Verdict

Those towards the head of the market don’t look anything special with Sonic having fallen in a two-horse affair last time out and The Steward having been touched off on three occasions and looking as he might struggle to get this trip. LUCKY LUCARNO has been crying out for this sort of trip and he’s taken to make some further improvement and open his account. Listentothewomen and Rubenesque the two mares in the field are both worth keeping an eye on for a market move.
  1. Lucky Lucarno
  2. The Steward
  3. Rubenesque
