Has dropped below previous winning mark and shaped nicely at York over this trip recently despite being a bit keen out wide. Gets on well with Luke Morris, who is back on board here.

Winner at Ripon last month over this trip, this is tougher potentially and rated 3lb higher. Didn't appear to handle Epsom in sole outing since, one that is perhaps best forgotten.

Course winner over a mile last month in much lower grade, well held since at York however. Goes up in distance here and has it all to prove in this grade.

Won on handicap debut at Wolverhampton on final start of 2017 and building consistent profile this term with recent figures of 32121, with career-best in taking four-runner Goodwood handicap (1m4f, good to firm) nine days ago. Terms suit.

Stable companion of Indomeneo who won on debut at Doncaster last summer and ran fair races over 7f and 1m this spring. Tailed off behind that re-opposing rival at Ripon last month, having never looked eager.

Forecasts

Rainbow Rebel (2/1), Dr Richard Kimble (5/2), Cote d'Azur (5/1), Indomeneo (11/2), Trinity Star (7/1), Narcos (20/1)

Verdict

This looks a decent piece of placing by Mark Johnston with his recent Goodwood scorer DR RICHARD KIMBLE, who gets in on good terms against his elders in this field and may stay ahead of the chasers as such. He likes to be on the front end and should prove hard to wear down. Cote d'Azur has dropped to a workable mark and shaped well at York, he should benefit from the return of old sparring partner Luke Morris while Indomeneo is likely to leave a poor run at Epsom behind. Rainbow Rebel isn't discounted if over his midweek exploits.
