Triple winner on the level for Brian Ellison who chased home the mighty Kalshnikov on his hurdling debut when conditions were to soft. He was too keen at Sedgefield and again on stable debut two weeks ago,
2

7/2
Showed a bit more promise last time when shaping as though he would do better back at this trip.
3
Horse silk
Faroccot223
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Dale Irving(3)| T: M A Barnes
33/1
Has shown a lack of stamina in his two previous runs over hurdles and he is hard to recommend on this stiff track following an absence.
4
Horse silk
10/1
12-race Flat maiden has not been at his best in 2018 and embarks on a new career. Not at all highly tried here and the market should be informative.
5
Horse silk
80/1
Has now failed to complete the course in four of his five races and he was tailed off in the other..

66/1
Won twice on the Flat for Roger Varian in 2015 (7f), but has had recent issues with the stalls hence the switch to jumping. Tailed off last of 13 on hurdling debut and doubtful this stiff track offers much scope for improvement.

7/4
Failed to complete the course on his last two chase starts for Alan King and he has now been sent to the North. In good hands to build on last autumn's Bangor second.

Yet to place in eight career starts. Hard to fancy on return to action having been tailed off at Carlisle 14 months ago.
9

40/1
Showed only modest form in two bumpers and has not lived up to his debut effort on either start for this yard. Would be a surprise winner of this given his form so far.

Cape Cross half-brother to seven winners who failed to make the track for Hugo Palmer. Clearly little was expected on his bumper debut and so it proved. Goes hurdling for the first time having undergone wind surgery.

Forecasts

Big Time Dancer (6/4), Saint Contest (7/4), Cathal's Star (7/2), Imperial Focus (10/1), Shackles (14/1), Parker (16/1), Farocco (33/1), Zamarkhan (40/1), You'll Do (50/1), Majdool (66/1), Leonasisland (80/1)

Verdict

If the form of Big Time Dancer's Wetherby debut is taken at face value, then he will be hard to beat. The fact he has been lightly raced since, has moved from Brian Ellison and has been inclined to race too freely makes SAINT CONTEST a more attractive proposition. The five-year-old has joined Keith Dalgleish, having had little luck over fences, but has consistently run to a level good enough over hurdles to win a race of this nature.
  1. Saint Contest
  2. Big Time Dancer
  3. Imperial Focus
