Won 6f handicap at Newmarket last year, and is now 3lb below that mark. Best effort this term when 1¾L sixth of 15 to Spanish City at Doncaster (7f) last time, and sharper track will help.
Successful over 7f at Yarmouth last year, and now 2lb lower. Not disgraced on return at Chelmsford last month, and handicapped to play a part for all he's hard to win with these days.
Sole win to date came in an AW maiden, but has plenty of placed efforts to his name in handicaps, latest when second in refitted visor at Haydock. Solid place claims again.
Well into veteran stage now, but handicapper slow to cut him slack, and not seen since below form at Thirsk last summer for Jo Hughes. Likely to need this return for new yard.
Reliable sort who got back to winning ways by beating Masham Star at Ayr in May, and creditable 2½ lengths sixth of 16 to Starlight Romance at York last time. Should make his presence felt again.
Won 2016 Bunbury Cup for Marco Botti but lightly raced since. Not discredited over inadequate trip at Ayr on latest outing, and return to 7f will be in his favour.
Inconsistent gelding. Capitalised on falling mark when winning at Catterick last time, but back up in the weights now, and not certain to be in the same form.
Beat Horsted Keynes when landing this race 12 months ago, and placed on first three starts this season. Needs to bounce back from a poor effort at Goodwood last time, though.
Won three times at 6f/7f last year, but largely below best this time round, although didn't shape badly after a slow start at Ayr most recently, and has dropped 3lb below last winning mark..
Gained first success in 7f handicap at Doncaster last August, and won again at Newcastle in January. Below form there last time, however, and mark looks stiff on balance.
Not won since debut despite having form at a high level, and both starts on turf this year have been disappointing. Hood now added to blinkers he has worn in past, and risky.
Placed over this trip at Catterick and Ayr this season, and failed to stay 9f when well held at York last time. Will benefit from return to shorter, and not dismissed out of hand.
Won at Chelmsford for Simon Crisford last summer, and had wind surgery prior to debut for new yard last month. Hasn't shown much on either start since, however, and easy to oppose.
Best effort this season when close third at Newmarket last month, but tended to hang when below that form at Leicester since, and cheekpieces now reached for. Others more persuasive.
Forecasts
Hajjam (7/2), Inner Circle (9/2), Qeyaadah (5/1), Golden Steps (8/1), Danielsflyer (9/1), Mickey (10/1), Scofflaw (16/1), Horsted Keynes (16/1), Explain (16/1), Ginger Jack (16/1), Spun Gold (20/1), Kentuckyconnection (22/1), Deansgate (25/1), Etikaal (66/1)
Horsted Keynes was runner-up in this last year, and arrives on the back of an encouraging return, so should go close, a comment which also applies to the consistent Mickey. Neither of that pair are regular winners, however, so a chance is taken on top-weight DANIELSFLYER, who ran well trying this trip at Doncaster, and this track should place less emphasis on stamina.
- Danielsflyer
- Mickey
- Horsted Keynes
