Fairly useful novice hurdler back in the day, hasn't shown a lot in that sphere since returning from five-year absence. Now 13-years-old and an unlikely winner sporting first-time cheekpieces.

Lightly-raced on the Flat, having done most of his racing over jumps. Did win a Clonmel maiden (2m1f, good) in May 2017, doesn't appear especially well handicapped but booking Colin Keane won't do any harm.

Beaten just 1L when finishing runner-up over 2m1f at Killarney (soft) last month, has run well without matching that in two starts on better ground since at Leopardstown and the Curragh. Competitive.

Some really promising efforts over this sort of trip on the AW at Dundalk over the winter and could be well-handicapped back on turf if running to that sort of level after a short break.

Won a Tramore maiden (2m, good) in August 2016, winner over timber as recently as April and needs a second look in the betting now switched to the Flat once more.

Well held in a Galway bumper in October before a series of below par performances on the AW at Dundalk over the winter. Runner-up on recent hurdles bow at Clonmel, must transfer improved form to the level.

Winner of low-grade handicaps on turf in Britain for Sir Mark Prescott in 2016, improved effort last time at Leopardstown (1m5f, good to form) 15 days ago and cannot be discounted upped in trip with than in mind.

Without a win in 12 starts on the Flat including when tailed off last time at Leopardstown, reinforcing the theory that good to firm going won't see him to best effect.

Never really in a threatening position when last of eight at the Curragh (beaten only 8L) on return from 245-day layoff earlier this month. Trip suits and on previous winning mark if coming on for that run.

Sightings of promise last spring in two Flat starts over 1m5f, ran well enough at Killarney (2m1f, soft) last month on return from a break and worth considering now with ground not an issue.

Competitive in fillies' handicap at Navan (1m5f, good to firm) last month, though since pulled up over hurdles at Ballinrobe. 5lb above previous win-mark, first-time blinkers tried and has something to prove.

Sole success in 28 starts came in a juvenile hurdle on heavy ground in December 2015. Nothing of note lately and comes back to the Flat having taken a fall last month at Clonmel over timber

Broke maiden when landing an apprentice race at Southwell on the AW last month and since run pleasing race over 1m7f (good to firm) at Leopardstown off this rating. Likely to be in the mix.

Winner over hurdles this month at Tramore, held since at Clonmel however. Yet to win on the Flat (three starts) and others more likely here seemingly.

Forecasts

Denham Sound (3/1), Prince Charmin' (4/1), You Can't Catch Me (5/1), Nelson Road (7/1), Siempre Amigos (9/1), Courtin Bb (12/1), Political Policy (14/1), Mystique Heights (14/1), Micras (16/1), Glendine River (20/1), Colla Pier (25/1), Analytical Mindset (25/1), Jazz Ranger (33/1), Whatever Jacksays (50/1)

Verdict

You Can't Catch Me ran a big race over timber at Downpatrick just five days ago and will have his supporters back on the Flat. He's capable, but will have to run up his best from this rating. NELSON ROAD has been competitive of late and must be given fair claims eased 3lb for this mission. He earns the nod, though Micras will be a danger if coming on for the reappearance run at the Curragh. Analytical Mindset is a potential improver while Political Policy should be right there if translating winter AW form back from a short break.
  1. Nelson Road
  2. Political Policy
  3. Micras
