Well backed at Gowran following a promising debut. She was caught too far behind having been hampered leaving the stalls and promises to do better over this longer trip.

Has produced a number of laboured runs in five career starts and finishing no better than tenth on each occasion.

Lope De Vega mare is a half-sister to 6f/6.7f winner Penny Serenade. Ran on past beaten horses on Curragh debut when shaping as though wanting further.

Dawn Approach colt out of a Rainbow Quest mare, he cost 65,000 gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to several winners. Has not quite lasted home on his two starts over 1m2f and worth a try at this shorter trip.

Big Bad Bob half-brother to an Italian winning sprinter. Dam was only modest and others have more appealing pedigrees.

Has made little progress over his two runs, but stable are in very good form. Back to a mile here and others have stronger claims.

Out of his depth on return when the fitting of blinkers looked an ominous sign given the disappointment of his last run as a juvenile. Plenty to prove but in the right company to do so.

Signs of ability in two starts over 7f at Gowran Park this spring. More needed stepping up in trip.

Sister to Listed Balydoyle winner Black Sea and two other winners for that yard. Not highly tried on debut, but suspect yard's other runner is their main hope.

Bated Breath filly out of a Sadler's Wells mare related to Flat winners Beckford and Ekhtiyaar. Yet to reveal any worthwhile ability but qualifies for handicaps after this.

Finished fifth of 16 on debut - tiring badly near the finish and was run out of the frame. Yard has done well since, however, and this Irish Oaks entry ought to have derived plenty of benefit from the run. One to monitor in the betting.

Does not have the most attractive pedigree but there were positive signs on her debut here. Needs to back that up by improving on it now.

Daughter of Sir Percy has been unplaced at lengthy odds in two maidens and faces another thorough examination on this occasion.

Forecasts

Dawn Trouper (2/1), Rockabill (11/4), Hasimiyya (9/2), Spanish Point (5/1), Bright Eyed (14/1), Merited (14/1), Mo Bob (20/1), Spanish Verse (33/1), Scarlet Seymour (50/1), Whatharm (66/1), Yo Tambien (100/1), Fake Media (100/1), On The Boards (200/1)

Verdict

Dawn Trooper may do better down at this trip but HASIMIYYA should have learnt a lot from her debut and needs to win this if the Irish Oaks is to remain a legitimate aim. Spanish Point has claims on his best juvenile form but he has not progressed as hoped and Merited may pose a bigger threat.
  1. Hasimiyya
  2. Dawn Trouper
  3. Merited
