Dark Angel colt, cost 75,000 gns as a foal and €100,000 as a yearling. Half-brother to a Listed winner and dam a half-sister to a Group 3 winner. Fair debut at the Curragh but he needs to come on a lot for the run.

Market signals were negative on debut and no surprise he made little impression. In a strong race here and likely to come up short.

4/6
Scat Daddy colt who's price rose from $220,000 as a foal to $325,000 as a yearling. Has looked inexperienced on each start and does not have much to find to figure in this company. Extra furlong is positive.

Raven's Pass half-brother to Listed winner Massinga and two other winners. This trip is probably at the bottom of his range and the market should be informative.

Vocalised colt, dam a half-sister to Group 2 winner Turret Rocks and a Group 3 winner. Ran well on debut and produced a fair effort when dropped back to 5f at Navan. Should improve for this greater stamina test and stable landed this last year.

£4,500 Toronado half-sister to five minor winners. Highly tried on debut and the first juvenile runner for he trainer.

Forecasts

California Daddy (4/6), Sovereign (10/3), An Aingeal Dubh (8/1), Vocatus (12/1), Masaff (14/1), Biltmore (25/1), Red Bloodedcruiser (66/1)

Verdict

The Balydoyle newcomer Sovereign and Dermot Weld's Masaff will need to be checked in the market, but Vocatus and CALIFORNIA DADDY have experience in the bank and both set a good enough standard to land a maiden. The former will appreciate the trip but his effectiveness on this surface, having made a satisfying debut on heavy, is to be proven. The selection has shown he is effective on quick ground whilst at the same time showing a lack of experience. This looks a good opportunity with two runs under his belt and moving up to a trip in line with his pedigree.
  1. California Daddy
  2. Vocatus
  3. Sovereign
