Winner at Lingfield two starts back, and though he wasn't at that level last time he has previous won at this course, and his rider is good value for her 5lb claim. Return to this trip could help.
Not at his best at York last time out over this trip, but this looks much easier and he has previously shown he can operate off this mark.
This is easier than the Goodwood handicap he was seventh in last time out, though he isn't particularly consistent and needs to be at his best to play a part here.
Three promising runs in maiden/novice company including a win on debut at Southwell. Makes her handicap debut off what seems to be a fair mark and provided she handles the surface here she should go very well indeed.
C&D winner in March and has generally be running okay since, though the quality of race he has appeared in has varied.
Very patchy form since 2016, seems better on turf (0-6 on AW), and needs first-time cheek pieces to encourage some further improvement.
Only fair run this campaign came over this C&D in March (5lb lower now), but two runs since mean he's difficult to build a case for.
Last of all on seasonal debut at Doncaster last time out and previous run at this course leaves him with plenty of improvement to find.
Fair efforts to place in a competitive races the last twice, though this is a higher quality race than the Kempton race he was third in last time out.
Forecasts
Victory Wave (5/2), Sir Roderic (4/1), Isomer (9/2), Ghalib (5/1), Unforgiving Minute (8/1), Glory Awaits (12/1), Executive Force (12/1), Ice Slice (25/1), Dark Magic (25/1)
Given what she showed in maiden/novice races, there's every chance that an opening mark of 87 may slightly underrate VICTORY WAVE, and with William Cox taking 5lb off her back she make a winning handicap debut here, with further improvement a strong possibility. The others all appear to have their limitations, though Unforgiving Minute back to this trip and recent Kempton third Sir Roderic are both worthy of the place on the shortlist.
