Becoming hard to know what his best trip will be having seemed stretched by this trip at Nottingham and then stying on over shorter at Beverley. Still early days so worth another crack and that was a much improved effort last time.

Failed to beat a rival at Ripon three weeks ago when racing keenly and being heavily eased. All his best form comes on Tapeta and his turf profile is starting to look a little worrying. Hard to make a solid case for.

Returned from a five month break to be well beaten at Nottingham (1m½f, good to firm) last month. That should have blown away any cobwebs and is on a fair mark. No surprise were we to see some improvement here.

Made a very promising start in handicap company when going very close off 5lbs lower at Carlisle (1m1f, good) two weeks ago. Cheekpieces are added here and every chance there will be more to come.

Running fairly well without winning of late and is now 0/10. Every chance he will give his running once again here but is vulnerable to any improvers.

Three pretty average runs in novice events so far have produced a mark of 61 for handicap debut. This step up in trip should suit, the visor goes on for the first time and the yard are going very well. Market check very much needed.

Pretty consistent without winning and is now 0/13. Likes to get his toe in the ground so will appreciate any rain that might fall. Another that is vulnerable to any potential improvers.

Well beaten in three maidens so far. Makes handicap debut off a lowly mark for connections that like to have a winner here so market check is very much needed.

Forecasts

Admiral Rooke (12/5), Mystical Mac (5/2), Bowler Hat (4/1), Global Art (6/1), Sioux Frontier (7/1), Handsome Bob (11/1), Foxrush Take Time (12/1), Ashlar (20/1), Robert E Lee (33/1)

Verdict

ASHLAR makes his handicap debut off a very tempting mark. The visor goes on today and his yard are going very well at the moment so he has to be the selection. Mystical Mac went very close on his handicap debut two weeks ago and is a big player once again off this 5lb higher mark. There would be no surprise if Sioux Frontier showed much improved form now having blown away the cobwebs after a break last time.
