Won a Chelmsford maiden on seasonal bow and just his second start, went well again there next time and might be worth forgiving tame Epsom effort on soft ground this month.

Three wins from eight starts, latest in Class 2 AW handicap at Newcastle over 6f in March. Rated 3lb higher now having perhaps failed to see out front-running tactics over 7f in sole outing since. May bounce back.

Yet to win in 12 tries on turf and was well beaten at Ascot (1m, good to firm) and Sandown (1m, good). Only dropped 1lb for that and is likely to find this tough going once more.

C&D maiden winner in the autumn, didn't run badly on reappearance at Haydock last month. Hannon yard not firing many winners of late (3-82).

Forecasts

Flavius Titus (15/8), Mutakatif (4/1), Mr Top Hat (11/2), Tadbir (11/2), Rum Runner (8/1), Zalshah (9/1), Myboyhenry (14/1)

Verdict

Flavius Titus produced an improved showing when landing a big-field Doncaster contest last time. He's going the right way but the handicapper hasn't missed him and he's up in class now too, so may be vulnerable. Mutakatif ended last year with a win at Chester and should progress this term, he needs paying attention in the betting but might just benefit from the run. RUM RUNNER on the other hand has the benefit of a run behind him and shaped well enough at Haydock. He won his maiden over C&D and should improve in this.
  1. Rum Runner
  2. Flavius Titus
  3. Mutakatif
