Kick On Dottie25
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: Billy Garritty(7)| T: Ruth Jefferson| OR:  117| C
9/2
Has really found her feet over hurdles, comfortably winning a pair of course novice events (2m-2m4f) during May. Looks just the type to relish this extra yardage on handicap debut with her young rider taking off a valuable 7lb.

Second Time Around25
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-7| J: Wayne Hutchinson| T: A King| OR:  112
6/4
Still without a win over hurdles (0 from 5), and one must ask the question about her stamina reserves over this near 3m trip. Respected given her trainer/jockey combination, but not exactly feared.

The Jam Man52
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-4| J: B S Hughes| T: R McNally| OR:  109| BF
7/4
Improved quickly after landing a touch at Catterick in early March (3m1f+ soft); winning a further two races in the space of six days. Beaten on debut for this trainer at Perth latest (solid run) and untried on quick ground; needs rain.

10/1
Four-time C&D winner; most recently in October 2017; running well enough lately but doesn't look like a winner in waiting.

Age: 8|  Weight: 10-0| J: S Mulqueen(3)| T: M A Barnes| OR:  86
14/1
Won just once in 25 starts (2m4f, April 2017), so difficult to envisage her being involved at the finish from 5lb out of the weights.

Forecasts

Second Time Around (6/4), The Jam Man (7/4), Kick On Dottie (9/2), Native Optimist (10/1), Louloumills (14/1)

Verdict

Rain is forecast and that will enhance the prospects of The Jam Man recording a fourth win in 2018, whilst the Alan King-trained Second Time Around is respected, but not feared. Despite carrying top-weight of 11st 12lb on her handicap debut, KICK ON DOTTIE is a fine stamp of a horse who will relish this extended 2m7f trip, so she's strongly fancied to make it three from three at Hexham.
  1. Kick On Dottie
  2. The Jam Man
  3. Second Time Around
