Made a promising start over fences at Worcester (2m½f, good) two weeks ago when his jumping was a little sloppy at times. Well beaten in the end but definite promise and can build on that if jumping a little better.
Ran pretty well on chase debut at Leicester (2m, heavy) two starts back before struggling back over hurdles latest. On a decent mark based on hurdles form and not discounted with improvement possible.
Won on chasing debut at Southwell when gifted a pretty soft lead two starts back. Couldn't back that up at Leicester last time off this 6lbs higher mark and the percentage call is to take him on again here.
Had dropped a long way in the weights before winning at Market Rasen two weeks ago off 3lb lower. He was off the bridle early there and didn't look like being involved until late on. Not one to rely on to back that effort up.
Has been badly out of form since joining this yard from Ireland. Tongue-tie didn't help last time but is retained. Dropping to a very dangerous mark all the same so any market confidence would be fairly significant.
Victorious in a handicap hurdle at Plumpton (2m, good) last month and subsequently has finished second over hurdles and fences last time. Hard to rule out on that basis and should run his race but may find one or two better treated here.
Is yet to win over fences but often makes the frame. Shaped with more promise at Worcester last time and is down to a really dangerous mark now. Could be a leading player in this field.
Interesting that all his best form comes on good ground. Given a couple of spins to get him cherry ripe and is back down to the same mark that he won this race off last year. Likely he has been aimed at this and is twice a C&D winner.
Successful twice in Ireland in the autumn of 2015 and placed twice subsequently. Fell on debut for this yard at Taunton before a fair effort at Uttoxeter last time. Down another 4lbs and capable on a going day of getting involved here.
Forecasts
New Millennium (7/2), Gin And Tonic (7/2), Third Act (5/1), Eric The Third (11/2), Key To The West (6/1), Tikken Away (13/2), No No Cardinal (12/1), Hope's Wishes (20/1), Fair Frank (25/1)
NO NO CARDINAL has dropped back down to the same mark that he won this race off last year. He has ideal conditions and should be cherry ripe after a couple of spins this year. New Millennium still has plenty of potential over fences and can be a player if brushing up the jumping. Third Act is so well handicapped now that he must also be taken very seriously, even more so if the money comes.
- No No Cardinal
- New Millennium
- Third Act
