Placed on three of his four starts in bumpers, including at Warwick latest (2m good); beaten 3L by the Alan King-trained Nobby. Makes his hurdles debut at a realistic level.

Won once in four starts on the Flat for Dermot Weld (1m1.5f maiden), and lines up off an 11 month break for stable/hurdles debut following wind surgery and wearing a tongue-tie (cost €12,000 in October 2017).

Failed to complete in three starts in point-to-points and was well beaten in a Worcester bumper on stable debut in July 2017.

With Brian Meehan on the Flat (0 from 4), and pulled up on all three hurdles starts for this trainer (2m), with no evidence that wind surgery has proved beneficial.

Has plenty of hurdles experience after a trio of mid-winter placed efforts. Clearly no leading light, but should win a weak race at a sharp track on quick ground, so tonight rates as a good opportunity with Richard Johnson booked.

Not beaten far when finishing third over C&D on hurdles debut last week, but that race rather fell apart with the favourite departing early, and this ex-Flat racer wasn't particularly strong at the finish.

Took a backward step on her second attempt in a bumper so much more required on hurdles debut following a 14-week break from racing.

Forecasts

Je Suis Charlie (11/10), Ezanak (6/4), Balli Martine (5/1), Mont Royal (22/1), Last Watch (66/1), It's Grand (66/1), Aladdin Sane (200/1)

Verdict

Ezanak needs respecting on hurdles debut for Dan Skelton following the well versed and commonly successful route of tinkering with 'wind' upon arrival in their care (ex-Dermot Weld), whilst Balli Martine hasn't done much wrong in four starts in bumpers (without winning). However, JE SUIS CHARLIE has plenty of hurdles experience and has been found the ideal opportunity by his trainer John Quinn with the Champion Jockey Richard Johnson in the saddle.
  1. Je Suis Charlie
  2. Ezanak
  3. Balli Martine
