First start for new yard (formerly Brian Ellison), recently purchased for £20,000 at Goffs Horses-In-Training sales after easy win at Sedgefield (made all). Conditions fine again but this could be a little tougher under a penalty.

Half-brother to the useful Massannie, which suggests this trip will be on the short side for him and he needs to learn to settle better after being well beaten to date. Hood goes on here, which may help, but one for handicaps.

Debut here for Tom George (was with Hugo Palmer on the Flat), winner over 1m4f from a mark of 81 last September and although hardly bred for the job, has joined a good yard and may pick a race up along the way.

Knew how to win on the Flat for Ed Walker (middle distances) and generally consistent, first start tonight for new yard and half-brother Cashel Blue was a winning hurdler, which offers hope he could take to the game.

Winner for Mick Halford on the Flat back in 2016 and fairly lightly raced in recent times. Not seen out for over a year but needless to say will have been well schooled by top yard for this and looks their No.1 choice on jockey bookings.

Moderate on the Flat in recent times for Mary Hambro, although nothing if not consistent. Didn't pull up any trees on debut for this yard at Wincanton in May and may be one for handicaps down the line.

Some of his form has a very good look to it, such as a tenderly-handled second to the useful Bagad Bihoue in a Newton Abbot bumper in 2016, but big absences in his CV are a concern. Another absence to overcome here, but worth a market check.

Looks the one to beat on form after finishing runner up on last two starts at Bangor and Market Rasen (third at Rasen a winner this week). Sharp track and quick ground should be ideal and every chance of finally breaking his duck.
Modest over a mile on the Flat, best effort coming at Brighton last October, but plenty to do on hurdles debut here and can only be watched.

Only low grade on the Flat but has at least got his head in front this year, that coming over a mile at Chelmsford in February. Tongue tie goes on for hurdles debut but makes very limited appeal all the same.
Size and scope to make up into a hurdler and certainly has some useful form in Ireland on the Flat (rated 79 when winning at Cork), pulled up on debut for yard in tough race at Sandown and this is easier. Watch market for a clue.

Not shown a lot in two starts over hurdles to date and will be of more interest once getting a handicap mark after tonight.

Last of eight in a Chepstow bumper on debut and that was over a year ago, not seen out since. Makes next to no appeal on that.

In good hands but not shown enough in two starts so far, although hinted at possibly better to come at Warwick last time. One to keep an eye on with a view to handicaps after tonight.

Forecasts

Aardwolf (9/4), Jamacho (5/2), Tommy Hallinan (11/2), Master Ring (6/1), Pokari (10/1), Boychick (14/1), Banish (20/1), Gala Celebration (25/1), Midnight Aurora (66/1), Crystal Sunstone (66/1), Bachy Baby (66/1), Matravers (100/1), Lady Ingleby (100/1), Little Welshcake (100/1)

Verdict

Plenty of these are making their hurdles debuts for good yards today and the market is going to prove invaluable as to their chances. Of those with form, expect Jamacho to try and make all the running but he might be susceptible to AARDWOLF in the latter stages. He looks all speed and this sharp track should play to his strengths. Tommy Hallinan must be better than his Kempton debut and better ground here may help. Master Ring, Pokari and Banish all make some appeal.
  1. Aardwolf
  2. Jamacho
  3. Master Ring
