Showed the first signs of a spark since moving north when runner up at Catterick last week (6f good), and whilst much respected, it's a major surprise to see him upped in trip (and without blinkers) so quickly thereafter.

Continues to seek that elusive first success (0/18) and has nudged back up the weights a fraction for a trio of recent near misses; 1m-1m1f. Tries a new trip today with the patience beginning to run very thin.

Still to win a race at this track, but has run some respectable races here in the past, including when fourth of 12 off a 5lb higher mark over C&D in early May. First time hood applied.

Lost her way in 2017 following a successful juvenile campaign (5f soft ground winner), and the hood which she wore for her seasonal reappearance at Thirsk last month (5f) is quickly discarded; tackles a new trip so obvious stamina doubts.

Kept modest company in 2018 (low grade handicaps/claimers etc), but did win over an extended mile at Les Landes (Jersey) last month; difficult to evaluate the worth of that form in the context of this race.

Quirky, 0 from 17 on turf and really needs to be dropped in front on the line, best suited by a good gallop over 7f on the Tapeta at Newcastle; nevertheless is preferred to this trainers other runner Tellovoi.

Still a maiden on turf, but she's won twice on the AW at Newcastle (5f-7f), and her trainer has his string in good order at present; blinkered for the first time and beaten just over 2L when third at Ayr on Monday (7f+).

17-race maiden who has left Patrick Holmes since racing on the AW at Newcastle in March. Poor on two previous visits to Musselburgh.

Off for ten months following her handicap debut third at Ayr in May 2017, but low-key in four quick starts this season and finished four places behind Lotara at Ayr on Monday (7f+).

Twice a runner up over 7f on the AW at Newcastle in November, but no real promise in a couple of recent runs on turf (1m-1m1f), and in fact hasn't won anywhere since July 2015.

Held on gamely when winning off this mark over C&D in October 2017 (good to soft), but tough to draw positives from her 2018 efforts, including as recently as Monday evening at Ayr (7f+).

I Am Dandy7
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-7| J: S A Gray| T: J Ewart| OR:  45

Lowly rated three-year-old who remains a maiden (0 from 9), not achieving anything of note thus far.

Forecasts

Colour Contrast (11/4), Captain Peaky (3/1), Lotara (5/1), Let Right Be Done (10/1), Fyrecracker (12/1), Harbour Patrol (12/1), Tellovoi (12/1), Mr Potter (14/1), Play With Me (14/1), I Am Dandy (16/1), Mightaswellsmile (33/1), Stardrifter (50/1)

Verdict

Not a race to set the pulses racing, but there'll be a winner. Fyrecracker and Colour Contrast have both filled the runner up position over the past week or so, but the former surprisingly steps up in trip here with the blinkers left off, whilst the latter has had more than enough chances to win a race. Building a solid case for anything looks tricky, but the AW winner Lotara should figure prominently at the finish for Jim Goldie, whilst the hood might just help HARBOUR PATROL to gain what is a well overdue first Musselburgh success.
  1. Harbour Patrol
