Winner of three handicap hurdles last year at up to 3m he's not been in quite the same form in three starts this year (one over fences). Had the run of the race over 2m4f here last time but was easily brushed aside off a 3lb higher mark.

His bumper form (dual winner) marks him down as useful and he was twice placed in novice hurdles before making his handicap debut. May well have needed the run there after 7 months off but his mark does looks a fairly stiff one.

Not been seen out over hurdles since November last year but has twice won over fences since (not the best jumper though). Made similar mistakes over hurdles but takes advantage here of lower hurdles mark; usually held up, should stay this trip.

Multiple Irish point-to-point winner (cost £50,000 as five-year-old) and starting to blossom over hurdles. Best effort so far last time out on handicap debut (first-time visor) shaping far better than the distance beaten; travelled well (had wind op)

Handicapper starting to relent on the mark he gave her after winning at Kelso last October. Last two runs have been here (shaped well) but work to do with Craiganboy on one run here and slight doubt about her at the trip.

At least he's managed to break the run of non-completions of late but has continued his fall down the weights. First-time cheekpieces worn last time appear to show him in a better light but he's still a risky play; jockey booking noted though.

Well held in a bumper and her completed novice hurdles and now goes handicapping without this looking a particularly generous mark. Can only be supported if the market were to speak for her; beaten 61L last time at Kelso.

Forecasts

Jack Devine (11/4), U Name It (11/4), Loud And Clear (4/1), Reivers Lodge (9/2), Craiganboy (9/2), Celtic Flames (7/1), Buckled (17/2), Uncle Percy (12/1), Ella's Dene (40/1)

Verdict

JACK DEVINE really caught the eye on his handicap debut at Ayr in April and shaped far better than his final finishing position and the distance he was beaten by. He’s had some wind surgery since that run and that might help him finish off his race better here. Craiganboy had Reivers Lodge and Loud And Clear behind him in a race where he was beaten by a progressive one and he should confirm that form although he never been the most consistent. Buckled would be dangerous with a soft lead and Celtic Flames must be considered off an easier mark back over hurdles although his jumping errors often get in the way and he’s not a certain stayer at this trip with stamina to really prove.
  1. Jack Devine
  2. Buckled
  3. Craiganboy
