Made progress on his previous runs to score twice at Musselburgh earlier in the season (well-backed both times) over 2m (made-all). Bounced back to form here last time after a break (had run of race) over C&D; caught close home by progressive sort.
50/1 winner here in September in a novice over C&D winning totally out of the blue (well placed in a weak race). Well held in two starts since then and ran poorly on his handicap debut off what looked a stiff looking mark (111); dropped 3lb for this.
Formerly with the Ewart yard he looks to be being brought along slowly with handicaps in mind (debut here). Ran up to his best when second to Bulkov at Sedgefield (winner twice since); mark looks fair enough and worth noting in the market.
Fair performer on the Flat (front-runner) but has yet to score over hurdles (0/12); plenty of placed form. Got back on track last time in a maiden (another placed effort); has already been beaten off lower marks in handicaps.
Scored back-to-back wins in 2015 before being only lightly-raced since including one long absence of nearly 18 months. Returns from another break now and still on the same mark as when last seen; dual C&D winner (hard to know what to expect).
Four-time course winner and has slipped back below his last winning mark although his recent form isn't anything to shout about. Best recent run came over 2m4f here but last of six last time out and offered little encouragement.
C&D winner who has run several decent races here although she has offered more than she had delivered on a few occasions. Ran with credit last time over C&D behind a less exposed pair off this mark; should get involved.
Her form for the most part is modest but her last two C&D runs have given her something to build on. Would surely have gone close (placed at worst) when falling (penultimate start) and kept on well over 2m last time; now makes handicap debut.
Arguably better on the Flat than over hurdles it's been four years since he last won in this sphere (here over 2m4f). Has won three times on the Flat since then and was fir from that sphere when 4th here last time on a 0-100 contest; more needed.
Forecasts
Nendrum (11/4), Titus Bolt (10/3), An Fear Ciuin (5/1), Bahrikate (15/2), Porto Du Sud (8/1), Green Zone (10/1), Politeness (12/1), Sir Tommy (20/1), Koala Keel (25/1)
This isn’t an easy contest to work out and a chance is taken on the handicap debutante PORTO DU SUD on his return to action with some of his novice form looking creditable in the contest of this race. Nendrum is the likely pace-setter and it will be dangerous to give him too much rope around here. Bahrikate is worth a mention as she usually runs well here although there is a slight doubt about her delivering her full effort at the business end of the race. Koala Keel is another who makes her handicap debut having shown improved of late while An Fear Ciuin may need some help from the handicapper to release him from his series of placed efforts here.
- Porto Du Sud
- Bahrikate
- Nendrum
