Winner of this last year off the same mark (race run as 0-140) and made the most of a drop in grade for a career-best. That win pushed him to a difficult mark and he was handed some tough tasks; returned to form last time at Aintree off this mark.
Turned in one of his best performances over C&D (April 2017) on his only run here seeing his race out well (not always the case). Since run twice over the National fences and was well-fancied in the Topham last time off this mark (well below form).
Fairly useful over hurdles but failed to deliver on several occasions after travelling strongly. This will be his third run since a wind op and his chasing debut offered something to work on last time at Ludlow; better finishing effort than usual.
Course winner over hurdles on his first run for this yard he showed improved form when switched to handicaps over fences. Made all to win at Catterick (2m3f, soft) off 5lb lower and withstood a higher mark next time; last two starts disappointing.
Capable handicap hurdler who has won off as high as 125 in that sphere and the majority of his chasing starts have been of a similar level (yet to win over fences). Would have needed the run after a break last time and starts out for a new yard here.
Gave notice that a win might be in the offing before scoring at Ayr (2m5f, heavy) off a 3lb lower mark. Went close on his next run but has found his good run of form ending on his last two starts; ground quicker than suits last time.
Has some useful form to his name in this sphere but does have a very long absence to overcome. Was very much heading in the right direction when last seen over fences with this trip looking ideal and dropped 10lb from his last mark before absence.
Took an age to get off the mark over obstacles finally managing it last time over C&D (hurdles) off a 7lb lower mark. Temperament has been questioned on a few occasions (not tested last time); now back over fences (0/10) and old doubts remain.
Forecasts
Indian Temple (7/2), Cooking Fat (7/2), Sumkindofking (4/1), Mystifiable (9/2), Castletown (7/1), Ramonex (10/1), Revocation (14/1), Angus Milan (22/1)
A decent pace is likely to ensue here via INDIAN TEMPLE with last year’s winner back here off the same mark and looking back on form on the evidence of his latest run at Aintree. Mystifiable is rather like the selection in that he returns to this C&D off the same mark although on occasions he promised rather more than he’s delivered a comments that can be levelled at both Sumkindofking and Castletown. Revocation is given a chance by the handicapper if he’s ready to go after an absence with the market offering the best evidence of that. Cooking Fat will have needed the run last time out and gives his trainer another string to her bow in this handicap.
- Indian Temple
- Castletown
- Mystifiable
