Just one chase win from 29 races but the Gold Well gelding is no forlorn hope finishing in the places on numerous occasions. Acts on the going and one for the shortlist.
Course winner that won over the trip last month in a Wexford handicap chase on good ground. Raised 4lb for that effort and capable of running another big race.
Modest 83-rated hurdler who is now racing as a 18-race maiden. May need more help from the handicapper and would prefer it softer.
C&D winner of a similar event in May 2015 off a 12lb higher mark. Now in the veteran stages of his career and may struggle in this contest.
Poor form in a series of dismal performances over the larger obstacles have left the seven-year-old without a win in four chase starts despite his last finishing position. Needs to rectify jumping mistakes.
Course winner that has also won over the trip but has been generally out of form before making a promising handicap chase debut at Wexford last month. May be a little late in the day for the veteran to mix it here.
Beaten a total of over 76L in his last three chase starts including a 31L defeat in a Thurles handicap when last seen over the larger obstacles in October. Unlikely to play a role in the finish here.
Nothing of any note in two chase starts towards the end of the year including a dismal 106L defeat when tailed of in a Thurles beginners contest when last seen in December. Others preferred.
Raced on three occasion since October 2015, and those races were punctuated either side of absences. Plenty to prove here.
Has generally struggled in three chase starts since December well beaten on each occasion including pulled-up when tailed off when last seen in April .
Forecasts
Icelip (4/1), Seskin Flyer (4/1), Dark Outsider (4/1), Knockraha Prince (6/1), Bellgrove (7/1), Invincible Don (8/1), Tobar Geal (10/1), Field Exhibition (16/1), Ballyfinboy (20/1), Caoimhe Diva (20/1)
DARK OUTSIDER revelled being back on his favoured good ground when winning a Wexford handicap chase over 2m last month and can make another bold bid for success here despite a 4lb penalty. The David O'Brien-trained Iceslip finished behind the selection at Wexford is another who will once again flourish on the good ground. It may be left to the top weight Bellgrove and veteran Ballyfinboy to engage for the minor honours.
- Dark Outsider
- Icelip
- Bellgrove
