2/2 for this yard having taken a brace of handicap hurdles in October having a little in hand each time. This is his second try over fences but he does have a potentially lenient mark to work with; 2lb lower than his last hurdles win.

In good form last year over fences/hurdles winning three times and hasn't been disgraced of late although his mark now looks a little harsh. His last winning mark was 88 and he looks to need some help from the handicapper.

Three times a course winner he returned from a break to win here over a shorter trip in February and managed to build on that with a second next time. Never been the most consistent though and disappointed when last seen.

Took an age to get off the mark over fences but finally managed to harness his quirks to win at Taunton in November. Ran to a reasonable level in his next few starts but well beaten last time out at Warwick; others more solid.

Rather a surprise scorer over fences at Huntingdon in April she did at least match her best hurdles form there. Given a rather harsh 9lb rise for that win she wasn't disgraced there and can't be ruled out of this.

Testing conditions have really suited this one in the past and he got that scenario over hurdles on his penultimate start. Wasn't anywhere near that form last time though and now returns to chasing in less than ideal conditions.

His two chasing wind came back in 2014/15 and since then he's hit a barren spell although he did have to overcome an 18 month spell on the sidelines last time (4th at Kempton). No certainty to build on that run though.

Hard to say that he's not well handicapped having run with more zest than of late last time out at Uttoxeter. That was his most encouraging run for quite some while and if he can build on that he's one to note in this.

Really deserves to win a race having gone close on a fair few occasions of late over fences but remains a maiden. Does appear to have a little trouble in getting the job done and more likely to gain another place than break his maiden here.

Has a rather mixed record over hurdles (still a maiden) but she did show some aptitude for chasing on her Newton Abbot debut. Mark continues to slide but might just be able to show a little more yet in this sphere.

His new yard obviously think they can work the oracle with him as he's been strong in the betting on both his chase starts for them. His jumping will need to improve if he's to reward that support though if it comes for the third time.

Forecasts

Sissinghurst (7/4), Thoonavolla (6/1), We'll Be There (6/1), Leg Lock Luke (7/1), Quinto (11/1), Cawdor House Bert (12/1), Alanjou (14/1), Silent Man (14/1), Chill In The Wood (14/1), Bobonyx (20/1), Charlie Mon (20/1), Micquus (25/1)

Verdict

There are some rather unreliable and poorly handicapped types in this and SISSINGHURST returning from his two easy hurdles victories could well make it 3/3 for this yard as he goes back over fences off a lenient mark. Thoonavolla will need to repeat his Uttoxeter run to go close here but he too features off a mark that looks very workable. Chill In The Wood still has to show that she deserves her big rise in the weights for her Huntingdon win and Bobonyx always appears more of a Placepot than Jackpot horse. Cawdor House Bert could be rejuvenated by a return to his favourite course while Micquus needs to prove or improve his jumping before he’s of interest.
