Not tried over a trip as far as this there is no doubt that her handicap debut was disappointing although she was forced wide much of the way. Drops slightly in grade now with her previous non-handicap form being solid enough; drawn wide again.

Hooded for all her three starts so far she has shown little in three minor events for a top yard all over 7f on the AW. Slowly away the last twice she's now stepped up 2f in trip and given a go in handicaps off a mark of 61; capable of better.

Her second in a French AW claiming race remains her standout piece of form but she's not come close to matching that this year in three starts. Made her handicap debut last time but continues to show little; now tries a new trip.

The winner of a 7f nursery here last year off a 5lb lower mark (with Richard Hughes) she shaped better than the bare result on turf over the same trip last time. Twice hampered when making her run she finished with running left; tries a new trip.

Blinkers now called for on her third handicap attempt having shown nothing in two previous handicap outings. If you were being generous you could make excuses fir both of those runs but only of interest if the market speaks for her.

Her last two starts separated by a healthy absence have hinted that there may be more to at this sort of level. Drops in grade returning to the AW after running soundly enough on turf last time with the step up in trip expected to suit.

Failed to improve on her handicap debut but looked a little more like the finished article last time over 7f. That was a weak race though full of exposed types and she has to prove herself at this trip; dropped 4lb with first-time tongue-tie.

Well held the last twice separated by a long break those two runs being her first in handicaps. Handicapper cuts her some slack now but there are trip doubts here with her best run having come over 6f; others make more appeal.

Makes his AW/handicap debut after being well held in three minor events at up to 7f. Still looked in need of the experience last time and that may well be the case again here (has been slow away twice).

Given her pedigree it's hardly been surprising that she's shown little so far (tried up to 7f) and looks inexperienced. Would be no surprise to see an improved model now that she goes handicapping (cheekpieces on) over a longer trip for this yard.

Form earlier in the year suggested that there was a handicap in her as she ran well a few times when not having an ideal trip, Poor on her last two starts (both on turf) and perhaps a return to the AW off a career-low will see her in a better light.

Forecasts

Noteworthy (3/1), Lady Of Authority (9/2), Wicked Sea (5/1), Midnight Blue (7/1), Zapateado (7/1), Call Dawn (7/1), Polly's Gold (8/1), On A May Day (10/1), Olive Mabel (12/1), Formiga (14/1), Charmed Pearl (14/1), Best Company (16/1), Prezzie (25/1)

Verdict

A real mixture here and plenty that have shown glimpses of form although the amount of headgear on display probably sounds a note of caution though. Zapateado caught the eye last time and was better than the bare result while Lady Of Authority will be suited by a test like this. Call Dawn is eased in grade and looks the type to be suited by this trip with Olive Mabel back on the AW not written off despite a lowly mark with some of her earlier form giving her a chance. MIDNIGHT BLUE looks a typical Sir Mark Prescott improver though with her pedigree far more in keeping with this trip than those she ran over as a juvenile; the market will surely point the way to her chance.
  1. Midnight Blue
  2. Zapateado
  3. Call Dawn
