Eight-year-old has suddenly found his mojo, winning in fine style at Kempton and Exeter last month, both over 3m. If handling this firmer surface, he'll be front and centre once again.

Has never really progressed from his November Newbury run where he performed well off a mark of 136 and has essentially been disappointing since, often when supported in the betting. Back up in trip, with new cheekpieces tried.

Winner at Worcester last October and mainly solid efforts since then, might have bumped into a well handicapped one at Kempton last time so no surprise handicapper has nudged him up a couple of pounds. Looks sure to run his race here.

Strike rate of 4-12 over fences, two runs this spring since returning from a break have been undone by jumping, rather taking wind from his sails at crucial junctures.

Career-best when runner-up in Lingfield marathon (3m5f, heavy) in February but unable to reproduce that next time at Perth in April, drops in trip here but might just be high enough in the ratings.

Without a win in seven outings during 2017, producing a mixed bag of efforts. First start since November and potentially best watched unless the market speaks strongly.

Appears to have lost the winning habit although he does have plenty of placed form to his name of late. Beaten 25L in this grade at Wincanton last time, likely playing for places at best now.

Winner of handicaps at Sedgefield and Ludlow in November, both on good ground and over this sort of trip. Only 3lb higher than previous win-mark and should be fitter after Ludlow outing last month.

Only chase start came in 2015 and was characterised by poor jumping (tailed off). Handicapped above his best winning hurdles form now returning to this sphere and hard to make a case for.

Confirmed the suspicion this is his best discipline when winning at Newton Abbot on good ground over this trip 11 days ago, no forlorn hope off an 8lb higher mark here.

Tb Broke Herp19

Likeable mare that won back-to-back races at the turn of the year, both very comfortably, though shot up 16lb for her troubles. Showed up well on first start since at Ludlow (3m, good) this month and liable to go well, despite inching up in weights.

Forecasts

Good Man Vinnie (7/2), Crosspark (11/2), Remind Me Later (6/1), The Happy Chappy (7/1), Tb Broke Her (8/1), Petite Power (11/1), Leith Hill Lad (12/1), What Happens Now (12/1), Theatrical Star (14/1), Adam du Breteau (22/1), Aengus (22/1)

Verdict

GOOD MAN VINNIE showcased his fencing ability again at Newton Abbot this month and is clearly a better performer in this sphere. He's gone up 8lb for the win but should give another excellent account with no concerns on ground/trip. Leith Hill Lad is also in cracking form of late but does not meet a much firmer surface, couple with his own ratings hike. The mare Tb Broke Her ran a pleasing race at Ludlow off a break and should be capable of continuing her fine form since joining this yard. Remind Me Later may be best of the remainder.
  1. Good Man Vinnie
  2. Leith Hill Lad
  3. Tb Broke Her
