Useful dual purpose performer who was most recently spotted finishing third in the Chester Cup consolation race earlier this month (2m2f good). Has C&D winning form from early January, beat Katgary by a neck, and is just 3lb higher here.

A standing dish at Cartmel last summer (2m1f), rattling off a hat-trick of victories. Therefore, disappointing he didn't build upon his decisive Sedgefield success (2m1f soft) at the Lakes venue latest. Never won from a mark this high previously.

Best when able to lie handy, and was twice a winner with cut last season (at Wetherby and Haydock). That latest success came on his first start since wind surgery, but he disappointed latest and is high in the weights now.

Handles a variety of underfoot conditions and was a game winner in deep ground at Ayr on her penultimate start (2m). Has run to a similar level since and with previous Kelso form reading 2,2,4,2 holds a semblance of a chance at least.

Rapidly progressive over fences, winning four races since early February, climbing 31lb in the weights. Made all and never threatened over 2m1f (good) here latest, so an obvious contender despite making his first hurdles start since November 2016.

Bought for £24,000 in May 2017 after winning a Ballinrobe maiden hurdle by 4L for Ellmarie Holden. Well held on stable debut at Perth in August, but returns to action following wind surgery, so could do better.

Forecasts

Oak Vintage (5/2), Mirsaale (11/4), Martila (3/1), William Of Orange (5/1), Coolmeen Hill (9/1), Beeno (33/1)

Verdict

A tricky contest with the lightly weighted, but upped in grade Oak Vintage switched back to hurdles after making giant strides over fences this calendar year. With the exception of Coolmeen Hill, the handicapper is no stranger to the remainder with both Beeno and William Of Orange seeking career best performances. The top-weighted MIRSAALE also has plenty on off a mark of 138, but he's a C&D winner who has mixed it in Grade 1 hurdles in the past (Fighting Fifth), and with the Dalgleish trained horses slowly returning to form ran a creditable race on the Flat at Chester latest, so could prove upto this task.
  1. Mirsaale
  2. Oak Vintage
  3. Martila
