Much depends on the fitness of Algometer who usually finds one too good on his seasonal debut and returns following a poor run at York in July. At his peak he has more than enough class to beat these and he is better with some give underfoot. David Simcock's star found Autocratic too good on his first run of 2017, but that rival has proved expensive to follow since. First Sitting got the better of SPARK PLUG in this 12 months ago, but this may be a more truly run contest and the 2016 Cambridgeshire winner was not too short of his best when reappearing at Newmarket during Guineas week.
