Beaten in a Hexham seller on his final start for Dan Skelton, he now finds himself with a new yard and back in handicaps. Given a chance by the handicapper but might not be the easiest to win with and caution advised.

Captain Brown21
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-10| J: H Cobden| T: James Moffatt| OR:  120| CD
4/1
Dual C&D winner for a yard that are always to be respected around here and given a sharpener around Hexham recently (reported to have lost both front shoes). Failed to win here last season but is 2lb lower than when last seen at this course.

Had shown some signs that he might be coming to hand earlier in the year but his recent efforts have failed to back that up. His mark continues to fall but he's now without the blinkers tried last time and isn't one to rely on.
4
Horse silk
Golden Townp21
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-11| J: S Bowen| T: James Moffatt| OR:  107
5/1
A 16-race maiden but his form here is consistent (33333) and he had shown something like his best form at Perth on his penultimate start (first run after a wind op). Not in the same form at Hexham last time; place chance again.

Character Onesie13
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-11| J: Lorcan Murtagh(5)| T: D McCain Jnr| OR:  107
7/1
Showed his best form over hurdles last time out at Southwell proving no match for the winner but still running well. Raised just 3lb for that effort but likely to able to play a part again given that run.
6
Horse silk
Inniscastle Lad48
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-8| J: B S Hughes| T: D McCain Jnr| OR:  104
7/1
Finding it relatively hard to get off the mark over hurdles and although he ran with some credit last time out off this mark, not an outing to get too excited about. More needed even to win in this grade.
7
Horse silk
Fiosrach261
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-6| J: Henry Brooke| T: James Moffatt| OR:  102
7/1
Showed some promise when returning from a break last year over C&D but gradually regressed from that outing. Now returns from a long absence with something to prove even around a course that has suited in the past.
8
Horse silk
Xpo Universelt,v41
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-0| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: R Menzies| OR:  95
14/1
A long-standing maiden who possibly flattered to deceive last time with a tongue-tie on for the first time (visor now added). Looked a little awkward and may be one to handle with care.
9
Horse silk
Honeychile Ryderb,h10
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: Sean Quinlan| T: Mrs Dianne Sayer| OR:  67
66/1
Poor maiden who has on several occasions looked far from an easy ride and has to run from well out of the handicap here.

Forecasts

Always Resolute (3/1), Captain Brown (4/1), Golden Town (5/1), Fiosrach (7/1), Inniscastle Lad (7/1), Character Onesie (7/1), Applesandpierres (8/1), Xpo Universel (14/1), Honeychile Ryder (66/1)

Verdict

A race lacking in many solid options and CHARACTER ONESIE is taken to win this after his sound round at Southwell last time with this sharp test likely to suit him. Three James Moffatt runners go to post and the local trainer is always worthy of respect here with Captain Brown looking the best of his trio over the consistent if rather frustrating Golden Town. Applesandpierres is given a chance by the handicapper but the form of the seller he was beaten in last time is rather unappetising.
  1. Character Onesie
  2. Captain Brown
  3. Golden Town
