C&D winner last season (one of his back-to-back victories) and would have needed the run on his comeback at Chester when poorly drawn. Should strip fitter now with cheekpieces retained for a trainer/jockey combination always respected here.
Scored twice over 5f last year showing plenty of speed and returned from his winter break with a sound third at Chester (missed break quite badly). Should be able to handle this trip and not ruled out off this mark.
Plenty of experience as a juvenile (ran 10 times) but only won once on the AW off a 6lb lower mark. A little below his best on both starts this year (on AW) and looks likely to need a drop in the weights to be of interest.
Broke a run of seconds for this yard last time out in the wrong way when running poorly at York over 7f (did too much too soon). Returns to sprinting here but does have to prove he can dominate a double-figure field.
10lb above his last winning mark when springing a surprise win over 5f at Beverley last time showing the benefit of a previous outing. Raised 5lb for that victory and more to do here but can't be ruled out.
A dual winner last year at up to 6f he shaped with some encouragement on his seasonal return at Hamilton. He probably needs to find more to win off this mark though; his yard remain in good form.
His AW form so far this year reads well (21213) and he'll be a threat here if he can transfer that form onto the turf. His three turf runs so far have been a long way from his recent level but he's a more mature animal now; still fairly treated.
Has work to do with Bahuta Acha on their Beverley running over 5f but the winner had race fitness on his side. The 6f trip may suit him better and he will have come on for his reappearance run; one to note.
Looked a little unfortunate to bump into one with a very game attitude last time out over 6f at Hamilton looking more comfortable now under quick conditions. Kept on the same mark and hard to rule out of calculations.
Makes his handicap debut having run with credit on a couple of attempts at this trip but underperformed when last seen over 7f on the AW. Trainer has a decent record with his first time handicappers but the mark is hardly generous for this one.
Came on for his first run of the year showing improved form last time to win at Salisbury over this trip (good/firm). Quickened clear under today's rider to win easily and should be able to cope with the 6lb penalty.
First run of the year for this one who was a 6f winner on soft last year at Hamilton. Never really built on that effort in four subsequent start (three in handicaps) now returns off a career-low mark; may need this run.
Forecasts
Beyond Equal (15/8), Montague (7/1), Kalagia (15/2), Equitant (8/1), Ginbar (8/1), Porchy Party (10/1), Bahuta Acha (12/1), Shaheen (12/1), Central City (16/1), Royal Residence (20/1), Quayside (40/1), Snaffled (50/1)
A typically difficult and competitive three-year-old handicap with plenty of potential winning options. Beyond Equal should be near the top of any potential shortlist based on his Salisbury win but he does have a penalty to overcome. Tom Dascombe is always a trainer to respect at Haydock in handicaps and his duo Ginbar and Porchy Party can both be given a chance here. Bahuta Acha sprang a surprise last time out but there looked no fluke about it and he should go well again but its one that he beat that day in EQUITANT who is taken to reverse the form over this trip now that he has a run under his belt.
- Equitant
- Beyond Equal
- Ginbar
