Struggling for form of late but has worked his way back down under his last winning mark now. Soft ground has never really been his bag though so Thursday's rainfall surely a negative.
Seemingly getting better of late despite his advancing years and made it a fifth course win last time over 5f. Step up in trip no issue for him here with his four previous course wins coming over C&D and he has to be considered again.
Could hardly have been any more impressive when winning a competitive York handicap by 6L last time out. Well in official ratings under a penalty here but he hasn't always followed a good run with another and perhaps one to avoid a short odds.
Just won once since 2015 at Chelmsford last year. Yet to show his best form for his new yard but this trainer usually gets the best out of these sorts eventually and not ruled out here.
A winner of 50% of his career starts (4 from 8). Raced exclusively over 6f, but disappointing on his sole start on turf in May 2017 and sits on a joint career high mark (89). Further progress needed.
Has run well to finish runner-up on two starts at Windsor already this month. Well suited to rattling fast ground so yesterday's rain a potential negative for his chances here and others perhaps better handicapped.
Off the mark over C&D when last seen on fifth start in October. Won't find it as easy to dominate these rivals but capable of going well.
Forecasts
George Bowen (7/4), Raucous (4/1), Solar Flair (7/1), Sparkalot (7/1), Open Wide (9/1), Pettochside (10/1), Lady Dancealot (11/1)
George Bowen will be very hard to beat if he turns up in the same mood that saw him win at York last time out but he hasn't always followed a good run with another and he's never won off a mark this high. With that in mind, course and distance specialist PETTOCHSIDE is taken as the alternative after a win over the minimum trip here last time. Lady Dancealot may be capable of better and is another with course and distance form to her name, she may prove best of the rest.
- Pettochside
- George Bowen
- Lady Dancealot
