Yeats gelding out of a Sri Pekan mare related to the likes of Holly Bush Henry and Augusta Kate. Struggled in two starts so far and likely to need further.
Three bumper starts haven't amounted to much. Well beaten on hurdling debut when sent off favourite at Clonmel last time. Back from a nine month break and more needed.
Mustameet gelding that cost just €7,500 as a three-year-old. Related to a couple of flat winners and a half brother to hurdles winner The Nutcracker. Dam won over 5f at two. Bred for speed.
Shantou filly that disappointed in a couple of point-to-points. Went unsold at the sales. Dam was unplaced on the flat. Best watched.
Gelding by Zambezi Sun cost connections £68,000 at the 2016 sales. Half-brother to winning Flat performer Bubble Sea. Well beaten on first two starts but much better showing at Roscommon (2m4f, soft) last time. Drops back in trip.
Presenting gelding who cost €78,000 as a three-year-old and is a half-brother to Sugar Baron and The Way We Were. Only beat two home on his bumper debut but improved to be a good second last time. Big player.
Not shown a great deal in two bumpers and two maiden hurdles so far. Hood goes on for the first time on the back of a break but needs much more.
Yeats gelding well beaten in bumpers last year at Naas and Kilbeggan, 193 days apart. Much better effort on return at Punchestown last week and could go well if coming on from that.
Well beaten in two starts to date at big prices. Switch to better ground may help but will need to improve to come out on top.
Price dropped from 42,000 gns as a foal to €12,000 as a yearling. Related to several flat winners and dam won over 7f. Debut for top yard and market guide will be useful.
Fame And Glory gelding out of a Kornado mare. 33/1 and beaten a very ling way on debut at Thurles in March. Needs to do much more.
Lawman mare that has a flat pedigree. 14/1 for debut in a maiden hurdle at Hexham (2m7½f, good) two weeks ago when shaping like a stayer. This trip asks some questions.
French-bred filly by Darsi. Sister to point and chase winner Dick Darsie. Dam was a 2m hurdles winner so should be suited to this game. Interesting to see what the market makes of her.
Forecasts
The Abbey (4/1), Moratorium (9/2), Texie Rexie (9/2), Kearney (6/1), Banno (7/1), Desir Du Large (8/1), Barntown (12/1), Dreamed A Dream (16/1), Classic Concorde (20/1), State Of Cognac (25/1), Blackyellowred (33/1), Arizengo (33/1), Bobbie The Dazzler (33/1)
As per usual the market will be a very good guide to expectations for most of these. Dreamed A Dream is an interesting newcomer and should be monitored in the betting. This may well be fought out between the two Giggingstown runners though with Desir Du Large and MORATORIUM both having improved with experience in this field. Preference is for the latter who encounters good ground for the first time today and can provide Lisa O’Neill with another winner in this sphere.
- Moratorium
- Desir Du Large
- Dreamed A Dream
