Didn't shape over encouragingly on hurdles debut at Kelso earlier this month (2m4f+ good), but probably capable of better and that tight track doesn't always suit every horse. Trainer also saddles recent course winner Kick On Dottie.

Out of the 2m-2m5f chase winner Posh Stick, and a half-brother to point-to-point winner Ripstick, so hurdling is unlikely to be his long-term objective. Tailed off behind Kick On Dottie on debut earlier this month (2m good).

Picked up for £12,000 in May 2017 after finishing 10L second to Mushera Mor in a 2m Dawstown maiden point-to-point (good). Not shown much in two starts over hurdles so far, but could prove suited by the step up in trip.
Pulled up on all three hurdles starts and whilst those runs were on winter soft to heavy ground, couldn't possibly be recommended on all known form.

Showed a modicum of ability in Ireland for Elizabeth Doyle, and was placed in a moderate Musselburgh bumper (2m good to soft) on debut for this trainer in March. Ran okay on recent hurdles debut (soft), but needs more.

Unraced fifth foal by Multiplex out of the four-time point-to-point winner Mays Delight. Half brother to the point/hurdle/chase winner Maybe Plenty.

Half-brother to various winners in France, including Blue Ballad (1m4f Flat/2m1f hurdle). Struggled on hurdles debut at Kelso recently (2m4f+) when pulled up behind High Jinx.

September Storm gelding who is a brother to the Jefferson trained bumper winner Storm Forecast. Goes over hurdles for the first time (point placed) on just his second start for this trainer.
Shown little signs of ability in point-to-points or since switched to hurdles by current connections; finishing a weakening eighth of ten to Mick Maestro at Uttoxeter recently (2m good).

Runner up in a Ballingarry point-to-point in June 2017 (yld/soft), but lacked the required speed for a Musselburgh bumper on debut for this trainer in early February. More interesting now switched to hurdles despite being untested on quick ground.

Fell at the first on hurdles debut over 2m here earlier in the month, so very much a case of back to the drawing board on just his third start for this trainer; previously with Kenny Johnson.

Hadn't looked a natural over hurdles, but returned from an absence to spring a 50/1 shock over 2m here earlier this month. Penalised and up in trip (should suit), but whilst open to further improvement that form perhaps wasn't the strongest.

Well beaten at sizeable odds in a couple of bumpers in late 2017 and now makes her hurdles debut with seemingly no obvious reason for which to expect her to be more competitive.
Tailed off in a Newcastle bumper in December 2016, and not seen in competitive action since, so impossible to consider on hurdles debut as a result.

Forecasts

Macardle (5/2), Kick On Dottie (11/4), Timesawaiting (7/2), Slade Storm (11/2), Cathal's Star (10/1), Maybe Mickey (20/1), The Paddy Pie (28/1), Friends In Heaven (66/1), Reaplee (66/1), Wagner Klass (100/1), Cudgel (100/1), Country Delights (250/1), Grimthorpe (250/1), Cushy Butterfield (250/1)

Verdict

KICK ON DOTTIE didn't beat anything of any real note (third and fourth both beaten since) when scoring over 2m here earlier in the month. However, that was an improved effort and she shaped like a stayer so should appreciate this step up in trip under a penalty in a very winnable looking novices hurdle. Viable opposition is relatively thin on the ground, but the inexperienced Macardle, and even more so the hurdles debutantes Slade Storm and Timesawaiting aren't dismissed.
  1. Kick On Dottie
  2. Slade Storm
  3. Timesawaiting
