Trainer's juveniles usually need their first run and this War Command filly is likely to be better in time. Cost £42,000 as a yearling (first foal) with the dam a maiden (stayed 7f). Yard yet to score with a two-year-old this season (0/10).

Half-sister to several winners including very smart winner up to 1m Major Cadeaux. Trainer already up-and-running with his juveniles including debutante winners with a significant jockey booking taking the eye.

Oona

12/1
Kodiac filly who cost 75,000 guineas as a yearling and comes from a very capable yard with this age group. Dam was a maiden who had the smart stayer Endless Time as a half-sister and this one is well worth noting if strong in the market.

Yard have only had one juvenile winner so far (1/11) and their runners in this age group generally need the run. Dam unraced but her half-sister (Yamal) was a smart performer at up to 1m; would need market strength to support.

2/1
Made an encouraging start to her career when taking 4th at Ascot (second has won since) showing good speed over 5f (firm). Was a little keen though and will need to settle better to last the extra furlong here; likely to progress further though.

Makes some appeal on pedigree but her two runs so far have looked as though she is a longer term project. Shaped well enough both times but hasn't as yet looked as sharp as her rivals and as yet to attract much attention in the betting.

Shining
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: P Cosgrave| T: J R Boyle
28/1
Half-sister to several winners by Lethal Force including the useful Black Bess and Equiano Springs. Dam 6f two-year-old winner; yard not well known for their debut winners in this age group though.

20/1
Nicely-bred filly who is closely related to a smart winner at up 1m Oasis Dancer and a half-sister to several winners. Dam was 4th in Prix de Diane and later in America. Stable 1/10 with their juveniles this year; worth noting any market support.

Vena d'Amore44
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: R Winston| T: D K Ivory
16/1
Needed the run on her debut on the AW at Kempton and despite making some appeal on pedigree appeared not to be fancied in the market. Still looks far from the finished article and this run will bring her on more.

Forecasts

Main Edition (2/1), Satisfying (2/1), Ring Out The Bells (10/1), Laxmi (11/1), Oona (12/1), Crimean Queen (14/1), Vena d'Amore (16/1), Sufficient (20/1), Sesame (25/1), Shining (28/1), Castelo (100/1)

Verdict

With over three-quarters of the field making their debuts there is plenty of guesswork needed here but Mark Johnston send his MAIN EDITION a fair way for her debut with the booking of Ryan Moore looking as though he means business here. Satisfying made a very sound debut at Ascot and looks to provide the main danger (the run of Come On Leicester in the 6.15 pointing to the strength of that form). Oona and Ring Out The Bells are two others on their debut s that look worth noting in the market.
