Took advantage of the drop in grade to get back on the winning trail at Huntingdon last time staying on well and this trip clearly suits. Same grade here and only 5lb higher, so obvious chance of following up, with ground fine.

On a fair mark compared to his chasing exploits (4lb lower than last win in that sphere) but dreadfully difficult to predict his going days. However, this represents an easier task and has gone well after a break before, so not ruled out.

Has been fairly consistent since the turn of the year and gained due reward at Perth last time out, winning gamely. 6lb higher here and likely quicker ground to contend with, so may need to pull a bit more out.

Useful handicap hurdler a couple of years ago stays extremely well and likes quick ground (also a course winner) so has plus points but looked badly in need of the run after an absence latest. May need more time to get match fit.

Occasionally well backed but rarely delivers the goods, won this a couple of years ago but hasn't shown much spark in a few outings lately. Others make more appeal, although would be of interest if attracting market support.

Just four wins in 43 starts is the main concern, simply doesn't win enough to be confident about chances but stays well, acts on quick ground and is often placed. One to consider for placepots rather than the win.

Forecasts

Fingerontheswitch (7/4), Join The Clan (11/4), Allthegear No Idea (9/2), Generous Chief (6/1), Champagne Chaser (6/1), Tea Time Fred (8/1), Bodega (8/1), Victor Leudorum (33/1)

Verdict

Fingerontheswitch did the job well at Huntingdon and looks to have plenty going for him but back in the field that day BODEGA rather caught the eye on his first start after an absence. With a 7lb pull in the weights and that run under his belt, he might be able to turn the tables today. Join The Clan has his own ideas at times but couldn't be ruled out if on a going day, and Generous Chief hits the frame enough to be considered for the medals.
  1. Bodega
