Hasn't won since scoring over C&D of 2lb higher mark in November 2015 but has run a host of good races in defeat since then. Fine runner-up at Ayr last time and drops in grade for this event.
Won Uttoxeter maiden hurdle in September and has been mainly progressive since. Good third over 2m in Sandown event last time but raised 4lb for his troubles. Extra half mile should help the cause though.
Raised 4lb for win here last month over 2m in four-runner affair. Stays this trip and goes well for his inexperienced rider so shouldn't be too far away.
In fine form of late winning two of her last three starts, including at Fakenham recently. Runs off a 6lb higher mark and this is a tougher assignment but not one to dismiss lightly.
Won three races in 2016/17 season for Philip Hobbs including hurdles at Worcester and Perth but not seen since disappointing at Cartmel in July. Makes debut for in-form yard and market should indicate any confidence.
Rocketed up the weights by 29lb courtesy of three wins last summer but absent since pulling up at Cheltenham in October. Has the decent surface he needs but looks plenty high enough in the handicap now.
Won three of first five outings then found life tougher in better company. Returned after 110 day break to run a good second at Plumpton last month after being hampered so should be spot on for a big effort this time.
Honest sort. Won at Towcester in October then fell when holding every chance at Cheltenham soon after. Not seen since runnng poorly at Kempton in December. Eased 2lb since then but may find one or two too good on this occasion.
Won here over 2m in March under today's rider then a slighlty disappointing fourth at Hexham earlier this month. Return to this venue should help with yard still in very good form.
Lightly raced and progressive gelding who was a very good fifth at Aintree last time, beaten less than two lengths on his first try at this trip. A repetition of that effort might well be good enough to land the spoils.
Amateur ridden when scoring at Huntingdon in November and has run creditably in two starts since returning from a winter break. Is 3-5 at this track so a bold show cannot be ruled out.
Up 3lb having run well at Kempton recently and today's rider is 3-7 on this gelding to date. Stays well and should be there or thereabouts.
Not out of the first two in five starts since joining current handler last summer and failed by just half a length to land a third victory since then wheen caught at Towcester last time. Wears first-time blinkers.
Forecasts
Equus Amadeus (4/1), Midnight Maestro (9/2), Wynford (6/1), Honest Vic (6/1), Sky Khan (8/1), Otter Moon (8/1), Royal Village (12/1), Or De Vassy (12/1), Apache Song (16/1), Star Foot (20/1), Cool Macavity (20/1), Fixed Rate (25/1), Get Home Now (33/1)
This is a good race in which there are a host of horses with proper claims. HONEST VIC has done nothing wrong this term and ran a fine race when a very close fifth at the Aintree Festival last time so just gets the vote. The headgear might produce a little more improvement from fellow five-year-old Wynford who has been in good form, as too has top weight Sky Khan, who takes a drop in class. Others to cast your eye over include Equus Amadeus, Star Foot, and Midnight Maestro.
- Honest Vic
- Midnight Maestro
- Wynford
