Off the track since December, but makes his handicap debut following wind surgery under a leading rider, so potentially plenty of reasons to anticipate an upturn in fortunes; interesting.

Lost a Sedgefield handicap (2m4f, soft) in the stewards' room on Boxing Day, yet was still hit with a rise in the weights and hasn't quite found the same level of form since. First time blinkers applied latest are retained.

Won over C&D in April 2014 from a mark of 117, so in theory is well-treated here. However hasn't won anywhere since scoring at Musselburgh on the Flat in October 2015 so others are more recommendable.

C&D maiden hurdle winner for Stuart Crawford in July 2014 who should be sharper for his recent return to action (stable debut) when finishing sixth of 12 behind stablemates The Compeller and Hey Listen (2m soft).

Successful twice in quick succession earlier on this calendar year, including when beating the subsequent Hexham scorer Pc Dixon at Carlisle in early March (heavy). Still probably just about on a winnable mark, but not quite so sharp lately.

Evidently of limited ability, and the fitting of cheek-pieces (retained) failed to buck up his ideas at Ayr latest. Boasts a poor completion record, but is dropped another 5lb in the weights and this shorter trip rates as a plus.

Impossible to enthuse over, but on the plus side he tries handicap company for the first time on a totally different (quick) racing surface, so it would be no surprise to see an improved effort; market confidence a guide.

Permission Granted30

Not fully exposed, but is seemingly on a downward spiral in handicap company, falling 13lb since being introduced to these type of events. His 'best' run came over 2m on good ground, so that might prove the key to his chances.

Likes to force the early pace and rates as a threat granted an uncontested lead as when scoring emphatically in a farcical contest at Newcastle in March 2017 (2m heavy). Not totally discounted.

On a lengthy losing streak and was tailed off over C&D last month (soft), so all hopes are pinned on the first time visor having the desired motivational impact.

Had wind surgery since her last start at Kelso in January (pulled up), but very difficult to see how she can figure positively on such unfavourable terms.

Forecasts

Hello Fellas (5/2), Frightened Rabbit (11/2), Wind Of Hope (6/1), Permission Granted (7/1), Titus Bolt (15/2), Instingtive (9/1), Cadore (11/1), The Banastoir (14/1), Lake Washington (16/1), Rory's Valentine (50/1), Read'em And Weep (50/1)

Verdict

Not a strong contest, so this makes this a race which is probably best observed for punting purposes. A number of the runners are yet to really put their best foot forward but may be capable of better, with the likes of Lake Washington and Permission Granted featuring prominently on that list. The Banastoir ran well enough over 2m here last month when finishing sixth to stablemate The Compeller so should do better over this trip with that run under his belt, but we'll chance the top-weighted handicap debutante HELLO FELLAS. He returns to action following wind surgery with Brian Hughes in the saddle.
