Related to Kauto Star but clearly has nothing like his ability. Not shown a great deal over hurdles so far, including when unseating his rider early at Ludlow last week (2m good).
Runner up on hurdles debut wearing a first time hood (retained) at Chepstow last month (2m soft). Has an obvious chance based on that showing, but equally things might happen a shade too quickly around here on much quicker ground.

Most effective on Tapeta, but a largely promising Flat career has been slowed by a tendency to break blood vessels. Beaten when unseating his rider in a Hexham seller latest.

Won over 1m on the Flat for this handler at Carlisle in June 2017 (soft), but is only rated in the high 50's on the level. Makes his hurdles debut wearing a tongue strap for a trainer who also saddles Genres.

A 1m2f winner on the AW at Newcastle in March, but far from prolific on the Flat overall (2 from 25). Well beaten on his sole previous attempt over hurdles at Market Rasen in April 2017.
Not fully exposed after making just four career starts. Could be the type to do better with time in handicaps, possibly over a longer trip.

Shaped okay on debut in a Musselburgh bumper in November, but hasn't progressed since switched to hurdles. Had wind surgery since his latest start, so could do better with more time and experience.

Has plenty of experience in bumpers (four starts), but bred to want a test of stamina (dam an unraced half-sister to Comply or Die), so he's likely to do better for obstacles. Conditions perhaps plenty quick enough today for hurdling bow.

Won on the Flat for Ralph Beckett (1m4f good to firm), but has failed to build upon a fair hurdles debut at Bangor in November. Had a recent spin on the Flat at Wolverhampton, so should strip fitter for that start.

Finished in the frame over hurdles at Musselburgh in January (Beach Break fourth), and has won a jumpers' bumper at Newcastle since. Consistent enough on the Flat without being a regular winner, and this isn't overly competitive.

Forecasts

Francky Du Berlais (13/8), Jamacho (9/4), Stipulate (7/2), Beach Break (9/2), Duc Kauto (10/1), L'etoile (11/1), It's Buster (25/1), Siannes Star (25/1), Geordie George (50/1), Ghostly Arc (50/1), Genres (80/1)

Verdict

A very winnable maiden hurdle which could possibly go the way of one of the lesser exposed types. Francky Du Berlais stuck on out of the pack at Chepstow last month to get within 3½L of Arian, and whilst that rates as a perfectly respectable hurdles debut, events will unfold rapidly around here on quick ground and that could prove to his detriment. Duc Kauto is noteworthy for Colin Tizzard but needs to improve, so the Brian Ellison trained JAMACHO gets the tentative nod in a modest race after some fairly consistent recent Flat efforts on the Tapeta at Newcastle.
