Some promise from his Nottingham debut, didn't do much in two further starts on the AW, has been gelded during the break and now goes up in trip for handicap bow. Will require improvement.
Runner-up at Chester on third start last year (15L adrift) in 7½f novice event. Goes up in trip for return to action / handicap debut and worth a check in the betting.
Shaped with promise on first two outings last summer, just missing out on a 7f good to soft Salisbury maiden in second of those. Faltered in two runs afterwards and again below form on AW reappearance. Handicapping for the first time now.
Both two-year-old runs were promising and may have needed the run last month at Kempton over 7f on the AW. Switches to handicap and could have a say, if seeing out this much longer journey.
Finished runner-up on nursery debut at Chelmsford (1m2f, AW) in October but unable to show same level of form over this C&D subsequently. Gelded over the winter.
Winner of a good-ground Salisbury nursery over a mile in August, bits of promise on the AW since including 4L defeat over a mile on reappearance at Kempton. Dropped 2lb and no forlorn hope here.
Nicely-bred colt by Exceed and Excel, he didn't show a whole lot in three maidens last season but should soon be leaving that form behind him. Handicap debut for top team.
By Declaration of War and a half-brother to the winning stayer Captain Peacock. Failed to set the world on fire so far, including last month in 1m Newbury maiden. Up in trip for this handicap debut.
Yet to pose much of a threat in three races, Excelebration gelding was again laboured on reappearance 12 days ago at Brighton and has work to do going handicapping.
Forecasts
Airmax (3/1), Manor Park (7/2), The Lincoln Lawyer (9/2), El Borracho (8/1), Spice War (9/1), Wild West Hero (10/1), Lifeboat (10/1), Stockings Lane (25/1), Masters Apprentice (25/1)
A Salisbury nursery winner last summer, EL BORRACHO shaped well enough on his return on the AW last time, eased in the ratings since, could pose a big threat to all here. Wild West Hero has little in the formbook but is well bred and likely to leave his two-year-old form well behind for Sir Michael Stoute, any money coming for him would be noted. Airmax and Lifeboat could improve to have their say in the finish.
- El Borracho
- Wild West Hero
- Lifeboat
