Off time: 20:30 | Winning time: 3m 53.10s

Granitic

Age: 5| Weight: 11-2| J: J McGrath| T: J W Mullins

5/1

Cost €18,000 as a three-year-old; dam unraced who is a half-sister to fair hurdler/chaser Maljimar. Trainer does have bumper winners (10% strike-rate) but a poor record with his debut runners in this sphere tempers enthusiasm.

Form:

Welsh Rarebit⁷²

Age: 5| Weight: 11-2| J: Aaron Anderson⁽⁷⁾| T: L Egerton

16/1

Brother to a useful front-running Flat performer in Brandon Castle. Took a strong hold on the debut but looked far more professional on his second start at Newcastle although no match for the front two; may do better again.

Form: 63-

Eurkash¹⁸

Age: 4| Weight: 10-12| J: R P McLernon| T: P R Webber

2/1

Looked badly in need of the experience on his debut but did show some ability staying on late to finish in midfield. There does looks something to work and he could do come on for that initial encounter.

Form: 7-

Jen's Boy⁵¹

Age: 4| Weight: 10-12| J: James Bowen⁽³⁾| T: N J Henderson

5/6

Cost £65,000 as a three-year-old and is a half-brother to three winners including the smart hurdler/chaser Royal Regatta. From a top yard (24% bumper strike-rate) he was well backed on debut and shaped better than his final position; leading chance.

Form: 8-

Non-Runners

Espalion¹

Weight: 10-12| Age: 4

T: Tim Vaughan J: R Johnson

Milldean Silva¹

Weight: 10-9| Age: 5

Forecasts

Jen's Boy (5/6), Eurkash (2/1), Milldean Silva (7/2), Granitic (5/1), Welsh Rarebit (16/1), Espalion (33/1)

From a yard that do well in bumpers it’s hard to ignore JEN’S BOY here after his debut effort at Newbury in a much stronger bumper than this. Eurkash ran well enough on his debut and that encounter will have brought him forward while Granatic is a nicely-bred sort although he may need this first outing. Welsh Rarebit is the most experienced of these but still has a little but to do even on those two runs.
