Only 3lb higher than for latest victory at Huntingdon back in January. Has two ways of going so a return to form would not be the biggest surprise.
Remarkably broke his duck after a terrific late recovery by Tony Kelly at Wetherby in December (3m soft). Slightly disappointing after but much better effort over C&D latest and cannot be discounted if in the same mood.
Formerly trained by Gordon Elliot in Ireland but form has tailed off since debut victory. Starting to look incredibly well handicapped now and more promise behind Captain Mowbray over C&D last time on first start since a wind operation. More to come
Bolted up off this mark at Sedgefield (2m5f, good) back in September. Shown nothing like that form since and needs to bounce back. Market check advised for shrewd connections.
Opend his chase account at the second attempt when winning Market Rasen (good to soft) in December. Solid form since and would probably have won there again last month but for a late fall. Abject latest display at Uttoxeter just tempers enthusiasm.
Form has tailed off badly and is dropping down the handicap very quickly. Best efforts have been saved for Newcastle and softer conditions than today and likely to struggle once more.
Sprung a 40/1 surprise when jumping well and making all over C&D 19 days ago. Raised 6lb for that win but will be hard to discount if in the same mood again today. Goes well here.
Likes good ground and tends to run well here. Seemed to find the drop in trip against him last time and a return to 3m should suit. Player once again and should be in the mix.
Sent off favourite on chase debut at the turn of the year but fell when going well. Ran poorly just 11 days later and has since had a wind operation. Clearly thought capable of better and will be interesting to see if the money comes again.

Forecasts
Apache Pilot (7/2), Captain Mowbray (4/1), Chicago Outfit (9/2), Iskabeg Lane (6/1), Crest (7/1), Solid Strike (7/1), Eager To Know (9/1), Alto Des Mottes (9/1), Fly Home Harry (16/1), The Doorman (28/1)
APACHE PILOT likes it round here and is expected to go well back on this ground and up in trip. Captain Mowbray could be a danger to all and is on the shortlist. Market moves for either The Doorman (well handicapped) or Eager To Know (unexposed) could be significant though and should not be ignored.
