Off the mark over hurdles at the second attempt and went close to defying the penalty at Perth (2m, soft) two weeks ago. This is no stronger race today and likely to give it another very good go.

10/1
Point-to-point winner who hasn't been seen in that sphere for almost a year. First foal from an unraced dam. Starts life under rules for a new yard today and best watched unless market speaks strongly in her favour.

Well beaten on all three starts in maiden hurdles in Ireland to date. Slightly more promise on most recent start at Tramore (2m, heavy). Needs to show a good deal more to play a part in the finish.

Well bred daughter of Presenting who was disappointing in bumpers and on hurdling debut at Perth (2m, soft) when a long way behind Birch Vale. Sure to do better at some stage but work to do to get closer to that rival.

Fairly modest in all bumper starts. Beaten a very long way on hurdling debut three weeks ago when jumping was pretty poor. Needs to do much better to be involved.
6
Horse silk
10/1
Modest on the Flat (1 win from 22 starts) and seems to be of a similar level in this sphere. Beaten a very long way at Market Rasen most recently. This is a weak race and probably capable of getting involved on a going day.

Dam was a winner over hurdles. Shown very little so far in one bumper and one run over hurdles. Tongue tie goes on but likely to find this fairly tough going once more.

16/1
Modest flat performer (rated just 55) and has had one run over hurdles back in November when beaten a very long way. Needs to take a major step forward on that to be involved but there is a chance she could do better.

Horse silk

Big prices and modest efforts so far in bumpers. Makes hurdling debut today and is related to a couple of smart hurdlers so it would be no surprise were she to improve for timber. Market check needed.

Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: Nathan Moscrop(5)| T: Gemma Anderson| D
13/2
Winner on the flat at Tramore off a mark of 54 fro previous trainer. Struggled so far since switching to this yard and makes hurdles debut today. Hard to make a solid case for her unless the market speak heavily in her favour.

Forecasts

Birch Vale (2/5), Rubenesque (13/2), Little Pippin (10/1), Anny's Land (10/1), Blue Baton (14/1), Pantomime (16/1), It's All About Me (18/1), Ask Madge (22/1), Roberttown Rose (50/1), Mini Dreams (100/1)

Verdict

Not a strong contest to start proceedings and this looks a good opportunity for BIRCH VALE to register another win over hurdles. She just failed to defy the penalty behind a well backed favourite at Perth and can get back to winning ways today. Blue Baton is well bred and will surely prove to be better that she has shown so far and Roberttown Rose is an interesting hurdling debutant to be watched.
  1. Birch Vale
  2. Blue Baton
  3. Roberttown Rose
