Won a 0-100 Epsom handicap (6f, good) at 25-1 in June when 1lb higher. Best effort since was back over there in July. Well beaten on reappearance at Catterick (7f, good to soft) but not ruled out from this mark now dropped in trip.
Sprang a 20-1 surprise by 3¾L over C&D (soft) last month when fresh. Raised 7lb for that and claimer now being used. Acts on good ground but recent CV suggests that he could struggle to complete back-to-back wins.
Scored over C&D (good to firm) on reappearance last year from 6lb lower and improved on that when winning at Redcar in August. Consistent and could have a big say now back over this shorter trip. Short-listed.
Shrugged off some inconsistency last year to win three races at 5f-6f (inc. on good). Back on song when not getting a clear run at Thirsk (6f, good to soft) last time and a repeat effort would see him in the mix.
Sole turf win was at Yarmouth (6f, soft) in August and backed that up from higher mark at Epsom (good) next time. Arrived in good form last month but couldn't make an impact over C&D from the same mark as today. Bit to prove.
Encouraging that his best effort for this trainer was here over 5f (soft) in September. Trip and conditions are no problem and a market check looks advisable on his reappearance after wind surgery.
Better over slightly further, though he did win a 6f Southwell claimer last month. Acts on good ground. Beaten a neck from 4lb higher at Pontefract in September but slower ground probably ideal over this short.
Thirsk specialist who acts on good/good to firm ground and goes well over this trip. Encouraging reappearance over shorter at Doncaster last time and is entitled to plenty of respect now back over this trip.
Won at both Thirsk (good to firm) and Doncaster (good to soft) over his trip last year, the latter from 2lb higher, before form dipped. Not yet competitive this year, including when well beaten behind Adam's Ale here last time. Bit to prove.
2-3 at this track, having won over both 5f (good) and C&D (good to soft) and being beaten just 2L (soft) from 1lb higher on her latest visit. Not as good at Wetherby last month but could do better now back here. Enters calculations.

Magical Effect (3/1), Stanhope (9/2), Paddy Power (11/2), Summerghand (6/1), The Armed Man (6/1), Adam's Ale (7/1), Venturous (8/1), Mujassam (9/1), Reputation (16/1), Penny Pot Lane (20/1), Art Obsession (33/1)
MAGICAL EFFECT represents a trainer with a good record in this race. He should benefit for his recent reappearance and this drop back in trip and is taken to score. Penny Pot Lane's record at the track suggests that she will be a potential danger from the foot of the racecard, while Stanhope, Paddy Power, The Armed Man and recent C&D winner Adam's Ale are others worth considering.
- Magical Effect
- Penny Pot Lane
- Paddy Power
